Seriously! Have lumber made. If it were me I'd have it rough cut, sticker and stack it for a year, then have it planed. Possibilities are endless from there.

This is the problem with the suburbs. I live near Jason and I've had about six big trees taken down over the years because I was afraid of them coming down on my house. Every time I've thought about doing something cool with the wood but there's no place for me to store it. I always hope the tree guys do something other then chop it into firewood but I don't know that they do.
For you guys it would take some doing to get that done which is too bad. It wouldn't take up much room, you could stack it next to a garage or something like that but it would be an eyesore for a year or so. I think the hard part would be finding somebody to rough cut it for you. Maybe, just maybe, somebody down there has a portable saw and could do it right in the back yard where it lays?
