From Lionel Hutz:

"Overall I’m still sticking with this being a total 6-12 type event for much of the mountains of the northeast. I made this comment privately and I’ll make it here. If you don’t get above 2500ft you will think this storm is a bust. It’s just going to be that way. Take your time, let it play out and don’t judge it by what falls on your car when it’s parked in the driveway."

Five or so inches here @ X18. Looks like the precip is over now and we'll totally avoid any R**N which is great. Tonight, will be cold and maybe more light snowfall tomorrow. So, should be a nice gain for this area.

Snowballs,

Where are you?  Hopefully near Gore.

Exit 18. I'm sure Gore, @ just 35 miles away, got the same or even more as I.

Snowed almost all morning at Gore.  I was on the Gondi at 8:30 and it was snowing.  Somewhere around 9:30-10:00 it started changing over and there was a brief period of freezing rain and then it changed back to a very fine snow.  As the morning progressed the snow started picking up again and between 11:30 and Noon it was snowing pretty hard on the summit.  I'd guess there was at least 6" of snow at the top when I left at 12:30.

25 miles south we got 5-6" and we had almost no rain (just a mist for a short period of time).  It is a very wet, heavy snow here but fortunately it was a lot more powdery on Gore.

Hope the rain holds out and that we get that second hit tomorrow morning.

I'd say that most of the northeast did ok so far.

I'm no expert but the last model runs look a bit colder. NWS shows solid chances for snow tomorrow.

Anybody who really knows care to comment?

Here in Stony Creek we're supposed to have a lull right now and then anywhere from 1-4" tomorrow.

For the record, it's been snowing for about the last half hour.  So much for a lull.  Not that I'm complaining or anything.

Northern NY  has to get through on band of green, which may be frozen at elevation too:

NWS is calling for the changeover now (9am) at Whiteface, and 11am at Gore.

It is rain at elevation too...once cold front passes snow will begin to fall again. Unfortunately high winds will accompany the snow..
