I'd say it's more about rain/snow lines than 1-3"....who cares about any snow as long as it don't friggin come down as liquid...

bottom line..even if it is liquid, it will be very light..might even improve the skiing..

Latest NWS zone forecasts leaning back toward snow, with warm air not likely making it into northern NY/Dacks.  3-6 with some possible enhancement heading into Sun am.  I like the sound of that.  Hope the Wed storm blows up as well.  We are at WF 5 out of the next 10 days.  With the incredible amount of man made the last two weeks things look good, and only getting better.

I think you are confusing the info regarding the strong lower level jet stream of 50+ knots at 850 MB with what the surface winds will be.  Forecast isn't calling for strong or gusty winds.

Sunday: Snow showers likely, mainly before 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 31. Very windy, with a west wind 37 to 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Hmmmm.....I haven't found any forecasts (NOAA, NWS, Accuweather or elsewhere) calling for wind of any significance....but things on the mountain could be different and I could be looking in the wrong place.

Mountain Forecast for Whiteface is looking for winds Sat pm as high as 55 mph, settling down below 30 Sun am.....at 4,800 ft. Less wind lower down.  Winds 20 or less at 1,600, and no kite surfing in Placid.

Gore reported six inches this am.

Whiteface reported two inches.

Dusting/mix in the Cats.

2-3 inches at WF is accurate, but it's skiing like more in the usual spots.  Skiers left of upper Mac has a ton of snow.  Nice overall coating.

No wind to speak of, although visibility at the top of Sky was crap this am.
