Ha. We had the firmness two weeks ago. Hopefully you can enjoy some nice lake skating conditions:

Ooops. The snow and rain probably didn't help. Here's the image:

I think LeChef went in and retrieved it. If not, he has to bring a canoe later in the spring, since the river crossing will be sketchy for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, the skiing is not so great but the sunsets are pretty nice these days. And I am totally digging taking pictures with my phone:

Well, I forgot to take a picture of the chair, again. This image might convey the general situation up north, far away from the recent storm track:

Since it was was World Telemark Day on Saturday, TD and I did our bit for the tribe and headed off into the woods on 25 year old skis and primitive bindings. Conditions were variable.

The food was excellent though, with smoked wild salmon, Finn Krisp Nordic Rye crackers and a twist of lemon. We are nothing if not civilized up here.

The bog skiing was excellent. Hopefully we will have a few more days.

Thanks. This winter was more about quality than quantity, so a little lemonade goes a long way.

Too spring-like for this time of year.  It looks like you need some sap buckets.

Things have improved.

Sick Bird Rider
OK, so it not exactly 27 inches but we'll take what we can get. After being out of gas for a while, the lake effect engine seemed to have turned itself on again.

That was from yesterday, and another inch or so came down over night. I skied yesterday but it was sticky, slow and not memorable.

Today was much better, silky smooth and easy. Utah, the 14.5 year old short dog, came along and kicked my butt.

Even on three-pins and leather boots, turns were easy. Old school smooth!

I count myself very lucky to have all this right out the back door, quite literally.

I know what you mean sorta. I have skiing right out my door too, but that door is 270 miles away.

But, you know, when I am there it sure it fun!

So a quick XC skate ski after work went downhill on the icy downhill..
That'll teach me to wear sunnies in the shade.. Ice is not nice if you can't see it..
Separated shoulder (1st time in my life = ouch) = thankful for public healthcare.  ER visit, X-Rays etc = 0$

TD... um... did you relocate yourself or wait until the hospital?
