I like this quote, because it demonstrates the difference in culture - Vail Resorts claims that they banned a guy from all 18 Vail Resorts for uttering some bad words about a lift, but up at Jay:
"I can't fathom what Mr. Dionne might have done," said JJ Toland, director of communications at Jay Peak Resort.

Staff there can't recall telling anyone that they were "such a king shit that we never want to see your face on this hill again," Toland continued. "That has never happened."
Everyone complaining about ORDA had better scrub their posts if Vail ever takes over Gore & WF.
No personal alcohol inside at mid, Grillman SOL, and now serving somewhat bougie Spaten.  Steps closer to a take-over.
Perhaps I will become a member of the Vail "Wall of Shame". Got close to the equivalent at Deer Valley a few trips ago, sporting my brown bag PB&J as I quaffed my Guinness' in their "cafeteria". Think I saved my ass from being tossed by buying a piece of carrot cake, lol. Turned a few heads that day.

I'm not enthralled by Stowe so far, I must admit.
You sticking to the map?
Yeah Benny, that’s a bold statement. When it’s good I think it’s hard to beat on the EC.

Yeah, well, that is maybe the problem, but I know nobody to show me those goods. Besides, like I said, those lifts seem to close at a hint of a breeze. Not a very big place, either. Then there's the extra hour drive.

That extra hour drive is one thing that used to make it better than Killington. That place can be quite the zoo imo.

Sidecountry, hike to alpine terrain, long uninterrupted fall line pitches, BC in the notch and it’s simplicity are a few things I always liked more about it not to mention another 100 inches or so. It’s got all kinds of little secrets that might take a bit to reveal themselves to the newbie.

Tie in the connection to smuggs for the duel citizen and it’s the biggest skiing in the east.

I just read in SKI that Smuggs is about to be bought by Vail.  Not a big secret I'm sure, but a little sad nonetheless.

Jay Peak is next, current ownership is ready to put that on the block any day now.

+1

I cut my teeth at Smuggs. Learned a bunch of life lessons there and had more fun than should be allowed by one person. It's never going to be the same, ever. The soul of Smuggs and it's people is what I'll remember.

The one good thing that I'm sure will happen is the connection between Stowe and Smuggs will come back to life. Those were the days.
