Saw this on another site. I think it's a pretty dead on accurate method for finding "the one", for those still looking:

The first thing I tell any woman that I meet is that snow ridge is the snowiest ski area on the east coast with it's average 250 inches a year.
14-15 Season:
11-22 Snow Ridge (opening day 35") 1-7 Snow Ridge (10") 11-28 Grand targhee 1-8 Telluride(12 inches) 11-30 jackson hole(10 inches) 1-9 Whistler(12 inches) 1-11 mt bactchelor(20 inches) 12-7 Vail(15 inches) 1-12 Mt baker(30 inches 12-10 Whistler(20 inches) 12-12 Whistler helisking(bottomless) 12-14 Big Sky(27 inches) 12-15 Mammoth(24 inches) 12-18 Kirkwood(50 inches) 12-21 Alta(37 inches) 12-22 Grand targhee(40 inches) 12-26 jackson hole(26 inches) 12-28 Chugatch backcountry(bottomless powder) |
But Snow Ridge's site says it only gets 231" a year. With women it's probably better to underpromise then overdeliver.

Yes, forgot exact number. That matches up with the boonville climate station right nearby. SO you REALLY believe jay peak gets over 125 inches more snow per year than snow ridge? REALLY?

Yes 125 would be a good guess. But like I said even if that number is exaggerated it's still higher than Snow Ridge. Snow Ridge is nice for what it is. And it's great this time of year when they have snow that others don't. All I can speak for is experience. Its not about being core. Its about riding deep snow in the woods at Jay later in the season. Ive done it plenty and from my experience you and your data doesn't matter. You know it sucks you like Snow Ridge so much because like you said, you dont ride glades. So you wouldnt even know how awesome the ravine there is. |
How can they have all this snow when others don't if they get about 35 percent less snow than northern vermont? Irrelevant stuff Glade. What does how awesome their glades are/how much vertical they have/ ect ect. have to do with average seasonal snowfall?
14-15 Season:

What does average annual snowfall anywhere have to do with "What to do when you meet a new woman"?? |
Like I said, that's the first thing I say when I meet a new woman. lol

Snow Ridge stacks it up early and Jay stacks it up steady just about all season early and late. Snow Ridge def stacks it up at a faster pace early due to lake effect.

Glade you also realize that JAY is WAY colder than snow ridge and holds it's snow base longer. Jay also blows snow. Snow ridge is almost totally 100 percent natural. Jay peak is as cold as quebec city. You can't just go by snow depth because of that. Jay will hold onto snow cover longer than snow ridge. But that has nothing to do with amount of powder day or the amount of fresh snow falling from the sky.

Well since Im riding almost exclusively woods there, Im riding 100% natural. You make it sound like being cold and holding onto the base is a bad thing. I was there last January 100% open on a 10 inch powder day where the wind blew all the snow off the trails into the woods. I only rode woods and it was -19 that day. 2 in my group got frostbite. I think his new name should be ThreadAssassin because every thread he touches dies a miserable death, it's like the movie Ground Hogs Day - Deja vu all over again, a broken record, Like the endless soundtrack in Midway Airport..

I too would appreciate it if we could keep the Tug Hill vs VT posts in our convenient Tug Hill vs VT thread.

As I understand it it's not the depth (of the snow) so much as how you do it (skiin as a verb) that women appreciate.
