Whiteface Conditions (2015 - 2016)

Yeah, was hoping it would be open this weekend, it's a lot of fun.  A few weeks ago the ice was finally thick enough for the plows to get on the lake.....then it rained.  I guess at this point in the season it just isn't worth it to them to open the thing.

Poof. Quite a cold blast. Not much traffic on the trails ask weekend. Cold smoke on mountain run and upper northway. Flat and slow every where else.

Wasn't paying attention, never saw the snowmaking flake in the conditions report.......bam, they knock upper Northway out.  Glad to see it open, mucho carveable today.  Mountain Run is incredible today, guns going the morning, nicely bumped up before lunch.  Upper Sky in great shape, in contrast to a closed lower Sky, which looks like a wind blown, icy death trap. Kudos to the tribe.  Very nice.

none.  and not worth poachin either.  no snow bro.

well, there is some talk of a few inches tonight and wind.  its suppose to warm up tonight so I may poke around in there but I then again I may not since the sharks are circling big time this season.

Damn Shame!!!  How's skyward?  Is lower skyward out too?

On Monday Lower Sky had full coverage.....it was just a nasty looking mix of wind blown ice and coral.  Not sure if they lost any coverage in the last warm up, but I doubt it. After the warm up Tuesday and subsequent freeze its probably just too firm to open.  That's gotta be the case with Upper Northway as well.....and Upper Parkway/Thruway, and Mackenzie, and........damn.  Need snow or spring temps!

U. skyward is off the charts sweet.  With warmer temps L. skyward will be open too.  Calling for some mountain snow and pretty stiff wind tonight into tomorrow.  temps warming into the 40s on sat and upper 30s on Sunday.  gonna be a good weekend on the mtn!

Scotty, Any more snowmaking on the schedule for WF or are they done for the season?

That's a scary thought this year.  They must not have burned through the snowmaking budget this year given the crappy snowmaking temps early on?  Use it or lose it!

Another weekend. Got snow up top. Things were good on all the groomed trails. Cloud looked like it normally does end of December. Lots of fun and great conditions considering we are at 80 inches for the year.
A 20 inch storm will open almost everything. It coming Danielson.

 At the edge of Skyward.  Skyward skied great but you had to ski by braille for the first 100-200 vert as there was zero visibility for the majority of the weekend.  Kept the crowd low on it for most of the both days though, as the top was a bit of a leap of faith.  I coaxed some new to WF friends down it with me and they were grateful for it.  Sunday afternoon it got chopped up after the clouds finally lifted and the crowds came. Lower Sky was roped off although a couple got thier tags ripped for poaching on Sunday, very entertaining from the chair.
