Whitefish Mt Resort Conditions

12/7/2017  Opening day provided good skiing on the backside and upper mountain. The terrain available off chairs 7 and 11 was best for coverage. New chair 5 opened with a short ceramony and thin cover.With a 5" base at the bottom , it will take 2  good storms to get the frontside open.

After Thursdays 70th birthday party complete with coffee and doughnuts and founders family we picked up a couple of inches.More is in the forecast and we need it all.I'm optimistic we'll 80% open Christmas week.

70 must seem like a blink of an eye to a dude that's 2000 years old.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.                                                                                                                                                         5" to 7" new this AM.

4" to 6" at opening with moderate snow all day. The frontside rope was dropped at 1:50pm to about 150 lunatics like myself.The last two hours will be remembered by many as a great powder day.  Still snowin.

Final storm totals from yesterday 10" in town and 20" to 30"on the hill over 3 days.

After 40" of snow this week, Hellroaring Basin opened yesterday, the ski hill is 98% open.Merry Christmas .

Another 2 to 3 feet of snow through the holiday week kept everyone happy on the hill. Town was busy .

Whitefish Mt. opened yesterday on the backside with downloading the front.Snow depth 35" on top.More snow needed!

I remember the backside always had much better snow that season I was there. I had some killer days hiking up to Flower Point and skiing down into the canyon.

Do you live out there? Whitefish? Kalispell? Is this a retirement spot (retiring at 1,999 years old)? Or did you just up and move?

Retired here 1998 , and was lucky to buy on Whitefish lake before the $$ bump.

This weeks 8-10" snow allowed patrol to open the frontside  of the hill. More snow still needed.

Merry Christmas from Montana , with the west bowl opening today Whitefish will be close to 100% open.Upper Mt. has plenty of cover , lower Mt. still brushy off trail. Not too bad for a less than average snow .

Maybe a new years resolution? One pic in the WMR Conditions thread before the season ends!

A great resolution , is there a "how to " somewhere ?  Oh , it's snowing ,,gotta go.
