Whiteroom custom skis

D.B. Cooper
If you won the custom skis that NYSB/Whiteroom Skis are giving away, what would you want in the way of skis or graphics?

Side note:  I'd like to know what is out of bounds.....like custom licence plates that DMVs don't allow.  I'm sure the Hell's Angels logo is out for non-patched members.

Good question, I started thinking about that when I read the post about the draw. And, by the way, thanks to Harvey and Whiteroom for setting this up.

I'd likely go with some kind of bird-related graphic. Possibly a raven motif, or a collection of winter birds like ravens, jays and chickadees. I often say to people that skiing is as close as we can get to flying without leaving the ground, and ravens just seem to enjoy flying just for the fun of it, even on the coldest days. And such a theme also would be a homage to my roots in skiing, since being a member of the Raven Ski Club in my teenage years catalyzed my love of both skiing and Jay Peak.

Lots of cool imagery on the Google, this one popped out as a nice start:

Hey, like my Mom used to say, don't count your chickens before they hatch.

That said, I'll go with two big blunts, maybe a little smoke at the end of each.

True, but there is also no harm in planning ahead and dreaming a bit.

Please limit it to one dream.

I guess we'll have to insist that people have usage rights to their image they submit.  This kind of thing can get you in trouble.

True. Hard to tell sometimes with stuff you find on the web. The image I posted came from here, no indication if it is copyrighted or not as far as I can tell, nor any credit to the creator.

If I win them I want to use the drawing of my pups that Broski did.

Is that cool with you Broski?

I'm thinking of having a brand name like "Poacher" on them with a skull and crossbones.

Maybe on the tails have "Owned by a NY State Trooper" to thwart any would-be thief.

Per family, or are my adult children who ski also allowed to live the dream?

I already had one guy submit 15 emails that were clearly for the same person.

I prefer to have one email submitted by one person. The fact that your two came in right in a row made me assume they were entered by the same person. If you and your family member entered them individually at the same time, I'll trust you on it.

This is costing me, I am hoping we can build our audience in addition to giving away a pair of skis.

Brownskis images are very "fine."  You'll need some way to abstract it, so it can be boiled down to "shapes."  He's cutting these designs with an exacto or CNC machine.

There are companies making serious coin by putting images that look to be available for free use on the web, putting in fine print and then threatening to sue.  They monitor the web for their images.  The settlements are very profitable.

When I saw it I texted my son (who actually wants to get new skis) and my daughter.  I’ll be honest, my son asked me if I could subscribe him, so I put that one in for him.....but if his email wins wins those are his skis.  My family doesn’t quite “get” my NYSB activity, but maybe this will change that!

Is it possible there are three? I think I found another that came in later. If I am mistaken I apologize.

There is probably some systematic way to prevent this.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised.
