Ok. I'll fess up. This bad weather is my fault. After years of winter driving with regular tires on one of my cars, I went whole hog and put good snow tires on all four corners. Yep. Great tires. Finally all ready for winter .....

And wouldn't you know it....NO FRIGGIN SNOW!!!!!!

Shoulda saved the coin.

Sorry Dudes, Dudettes and lil Dudekids.

i knew somehow it was your fault.    Just take them off and put your summer tires back on and it will snow - DO THAT TODAY!

Re: Worst season ever

warp daddy

 That rots but:
I would assume that if GP is CURRENT as far as payments are concerned that the obligation would be seen as  viable by any subsequent financial institution.

Re: Worst season ever

I'm not sure what it means either. The part that has me concerned is "the FDIC has given GP 6 to 8 months to secure new financing"....what if they don't secure new financing in 6 to 8 months. I'd venture to guess they're operating in the red this season which makes it VERY difficult to get financing. I'd also guess that any equity they used to have is swallowed up in the new hotel/adventure center....ugh, hang in there GP

chatter on the lifts the last 2 days......

@ West a fella told me West lost $250,000 over Christmas due to low snow.

@ Gore a fella said uncle Mikie hold told him they were already $500,000 over on their snowmaking budget.

Don't know what Jimmer's friend the janitor's been saying but would not surprise me if many mtns were not already done making snow for this year.

Well Benny, if skier visits is the measure, then you were right:

National skier visits plummeted to 51 million last season, the worst year since 1991-92.

From the 20 percent decline in New England to the 26 percent drop in California and the 7 percent drop in the Rocky Mountains in between, five out of every six resorts in every snowy region of the country saw declines in visitation.

The weakest snowfall in 20 years fueled a 15.7 percent decline from last year’s record 60.5 million visits. The season started slow, with resort visitation down 29 percent before and through Christmas, hobbling momentum heading into the typically busiest months of the ski season.

The statistical litany of declines revealed what every U.S. resort operator suspected: the 2011-12 ski season will forever rank as one of the ugliest ever, with record levels of decay from coast to coast.

Hah, funny thing, I caught three feet in Tahoe on my trip.

That picture of ABasin on closing day is just sad. Last year they were getting powder in May.

Despite the lack of total natural snowfall, I've had a pretty good year so far. And, we've still got plenty to go!

I've only skied two days in the rain, which is better than average for this time in the year.  But that is not counting the two extra bonus Skiing In The Ice Rain days I got this year...

There was a storm at the end of February, and February 28 and March 1 were the best days I ever had at Gore.  But they closed on St Patrick’s day.

Me too! Two good days are better than 30 mediocre days, even if you need to wait all winter for the those good days.
