Raises hand... :) Only when necessary.. Usually involves crud and steep.. Otherwise I'd rather straightline... I'll add it's much easier on a snowboard... |

I really can't say the whole story on here, and it prolly wouldn't be too funny unless you knew all the characters and back stories involved. It's how the whole A18 Gang thing got started. I'd say it was about 5ish or so years ago we were skiing a closed trail and we were almost certain we would get caught. Once at the bottom were met by SP malitia style....was a new guy who didn't know us and felt as if he needed to flex his muscles. That whole interaction didn't go as he had planned..... . We've never seen him before or after that interaction. You mess with the A18 Gang and you dissapear |

Peetex’s contribution is pointing out the gaping loophole in the Safety in Skiing statute, as codified in Article 18, which would allow him to ski to the edge of an open trail, remove his skis, walk from the edge of the trail to the ski area boundary, cross said boundary, put his skis back on and ski off into the Forest Preserve. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be busy tonight plotting out all the possibilities this strategy presents, all safe from prosecution of any kind. </sarcasm> |
Plenty of areas have a trail or glade that parallel the ski area boundary |

there was amendment to include snowboarders whenever skiers were mentioned

let me tell you how this is going to play out at Gore. If you duck a rope and get caught you're probably going to get yelled at; the rope is there for a reason. If you play the innocent and apologize that's about as far as it's going to go...at worst the patroller will mark your ticket so the next time the patroller catching you will know you're a dick and will pull your pass. If you instead decide to play the asshole card (I don't know why but people insist on doing this all the time) and be a real self righteous dick you're for sure going to get your ticket pulled...and you probably deserve it just for being such an asshole. We don't really care if you ski in the woods, hell, most of us do it ourselves...a lot. But hauling your sorry broken ass out of there is a real pain. Believe it.
Bottom line: what goes around comes around. Ski where you want, for god's sake use some common sense, and play nice. |
been told " drag your dead" " dont let john q public see you"
Tele turns are optional not mandatory.

in light of the unfortunate incident to the young man at gore and his family , I sincerely apologize if my previous comment seems crass.
Tele turns are optional not mandatory.

The two are unrelated. Accidents happen, if you don't take a few risks in life your dead anyway.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
