It was the last day of nysef and they were a little out of control and my kid is in nysef

I didn't hear this from my son and I'm sure I would have had it happened

That said bubba could readily be roped if they truly wanted to close It and it's not roped.   If you want something closed put a long rope all the way across it otherwise live and let ski. Don't make the kids guess.

Given the attitude of management to put almost comical terrain features just about anywhere lately I doubt thus is coming from the top.  What's more of a liability issues some tight trees in a gully where who can't go more than 10 mph or a 50 ft kicker that if you don't go 30+ you won't clear the landing?
So are you saying that the patroller or for that matter mtn management should be charged with theft?
Dude won't be happy until everyone goes to jail...  :)

Raises hand...  :)

Only when necessary..  Usually involves crud and steep..
Otherwise I'd rather straightline...

I'll add it's much easier on a snowboard...

I hear camp knows a bit about article 18
yeah, you get these really cool little tickets

I have a picture somewhere of us at the bar holding them up.....that was a funny day
Sounds like there may be a great story here ... any chance of details?
I really can't say the whole story on here, and it prolly wouldn't be too funny unless you knew all the characters and back stories involved. It's how the whole A18 Gang thing got started. I'd say it was about 5ish or so years ago we were skiing a closed trail and we were almost certain we would get caught. Once at the bottom were met by SP malitia style....was a new guy who didn't know us and felt as if he needed to flex his muscles. That whole interaction didn't go as he had planned..... . We've never seen him before or after that interaction. You mess with the A18 Gang and you dissapear

My other observation is that the new guy peeeeetex is being a bit of a troll and picking silly fights.  Please don't make Face or the others quote the NYS statutes as it puts most people to sleep.
Peetex’s contribution is pointing out the gaping loophole in the Safety in Skiing statute, as codified in Article 18, which would allow him to ski to the edge of an open trail, remove his skis, walk from the edge of the trail to the ski area boundary, cross said boundary, put his skis back on and ski off into the Forest Preserve.

I don’t know about you, but I’ll be busy tonight plotting out all the possibilities this strategy presents, all safe from prosecution of any kind.

Plenty of areas have a trail or glade that parallel the ski area boundary

Re: ski patrol lurking in Bubba's Gulch

bean valley
let me tell you how this is going to play out at Gore. If you duck a rope and get caught you're probably going to get yelled at; the rope is there for a reason. If you play the innocent and apologize that's about as far as it's going to go...at worst the patroller will mark your ticket so the next time the patroller catching you will know you're a dick and will pull your pass. If you instead decide to play the asshole card (I don't know why but people insist on doing this all the time) and be a real self righteous dick you're for sure going to get your ticket pulled...and you probably deserve it just for being such an asshole. We don't really care if you ski in the woods, hell, most of us do it ourselves...a lot. But hauling your sorry broken ass out of there is a real pain. Believe it.
Bottom line: what goes around comes around. Ski where you want, for god's sake use some common sense, and play nice.

in light of the unfortunate incident to the young man at gore and his family , I sincerely apologize if my previous comment seems crass.

The two are unrelated. Accidents happen, if you don't take a few risks in life your dead anyway.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.
