Oak Mountain has posted this Sunday 3/17 as their closing date. That means it's time for the NY Ski Area Closing Dates thread.
Post what you know below, and I'll incorporate it. If your info is unofficial please note it. If you know the date that a lift-served mountain closed or is closing please post it.

I think that Tuxedo Ridge may have already closed as of March 10th but it is not official yet as the website says "Closed, Check back for more information". I will know as of tomorrow whether Mt. Peter will close on the 16th, 17th, or 24th of March. Hidden Valley NJ is officially closed for the season as of March 10th.

Not trying to harsh anyone's mellow.
I love having this historical info and if I don't post these threads until April there is no chance to gather it. NY Ski Area Closing Dates 2011 NY Ski Area Closing Dates 2012

I understand completely. It's just the thought of it ending stinks. In actuality today may have been my last day. Hoping it wasn't but I'm returning to work on Monday and I'm just a mid-week pass holder. I have a voucher for Plattekill that I was thinking about using Sunday but I took my worst fall in years today on my last run and my leg is really bothering me so Sunday is questionable.
Sorry to get of topic here. I'll let you know if I hear anything. |

I've thought about including in as part of one chart. You could then do some kind of calculation on season length too. Many opening days are the same or within a week or so.

Hate to be the bearer of the bad news but I looked at all the websites for the ski areas on the list and this is what I found. Tuxedo Ridge is now officially closed as they didn't open for the 16th/17th weekend. Thunder Ridge closed on 3/17. Buffalo Ski Club will close on 3/23. There is no website for Cockaigne. Greek Peak will close on 4/7 at the latest. Hunt Hollow seems to be currently looking at 3/31. There will be much more bad news to bear by the 24th as almost all of the smaller mountains seem to have end-of-the-season events planned for the 23rd/24th. Unfortunately, this season is on a countdown timer.

The word I got from Gore was that they were going to stay open as long as possible, through Easter week when the schools are out here and possibly a few weekends after that.
|
I found all of these based on the information on the websites.
Mount Peter-3/30. Catamount-3/30. Hunt Hollow-3/30. Kissing bridge-3/30. Snow Ridge-3/30 (unofficial). Royal Mountain-4/7 (at the latest). Willard-3/24. Titus-3/30. Hunter-4/7 (extending the season to 4/14 is in the cards) Buffalo Ski Club extended the season to 3/30. Everybody else has said nothing so they are not planning on closing yet.

Kissing Bridge will close for Easter, then Assess the situation.
Seeing as close to two feet fell in the last 15 days they will reopen!($15 lift tix, kids on break) Holiday Valley just announced they will run lifts until the 14th! yes and it counts. Cockaigne has not reopened since the fire at the lodge. It's really sad because the lodge was originally The Austria pavilion from the 1964 NYC World's Fair. that and the fact they are situated in a major snow belt. Spring skiing in WNY!
The long days of Shockley are gone,
So is football Kennedy style |
More info from the websites
Brantling-officially closed as of 3/24 Labrador Mountain-appears to be closing on 3/30 Hunter Mountain-just announced that they will stay open till 4/14. I am very happy about this because it is my normal day-tripping mountain. West Mountain-4/7 (unofficial) Woods Valley-did not close on 3/24 and is planning on being open into April most likely 4/7
