I'm not a big flag guy, at all. But I do think the wearing the flag after you win a gold metal is disrespectful. Seems to touch the ground a lot too.  Maybe I am a flag guy.

There’s actually a flag code, and a lot of common things are against the code, but we don’t think of them as disrespectful.
Holding a flag horizontally over a football field, flags on clothes or athletic uniforms, clothes made of flags are all against the code.
Mostly that was all followed until the 70s, but good luck getting the red necks to give up all that stuff now.

Anyone know what's the deal with the women's downhill this year? Vonn got Bronze, but Shiffern pulled out of that race volountarially. Possible that she pulled out simply out of respect for Vonn?

She apparently pulled out of the DH because she was scheduled the next day for an event in which she felt more competitive .

Also the compressed schedule of five events did not allow for proper rest and mental and physical adjustment and training needed to switch disciplines.    Tough weather the first week pushed many alpine events closer together.
