The IOC picked one of the windiest places possible for these games
Look at all those wind mills in the background shots
No alpine skiing yet due to wind issues
if You French Fry when you should Pizza you are going to have a bad time

I kinda feel bad for the competition but the winds are another variable that I think made the girls snow boarding more exciting.

This is getting to be a real issue.  If they don't start getting skiing events in they will run out of time to fit them all in.  The do the speed events early as they are the most weather dependent but now they are pushing SL's back which almost never happens.  You can race SL in just about any weather normally.

You have to start looking at the IOC and why they are picking these iffy locations.  It gets worse as the next Olympic location in China has less than 20" of annual snow fall.  I kid you not.  its time to have 3 to 4 permannt rotating locations for the games that are sure things.  One in in the Alps, one in Norway to assure snow, Japan, and either SLC or Calgary in north America.

I concur on the permenant locations.  Total waste building these sites only to have them go unused once olympics are over.

I find the short track speed skating relay the wildest thing I've ever watched.

And that one Norwegian dude who went by everyone like they hit reverse in the x-country sprint was amazing as well.

That depends on how each host city handles their assets once the games are over.  Some do it well, others do not.

It seems goofy that they are going to replant the alpine venue once these games are over.

If you can smoke while participating, it's not a sport, it's a game and should not be in the Olympics.

Ok, I’ll be the dick and say it.  Happy for the USA for Shaun White’s gold medal.  That was a monster run, he’s unmatched with a board strapped to his feet.  That said, reading about the sexual harassment suit he settled, whether some of the alleged acts are rumors or not, the guy is more douchebag than inspiration it might seem.  I see he’s apologized this morning for having dismissed the claims as gossip, but I don’t see where’s he’s ever really commented on (apologized for) whatever occurred.

Hey, glass houses and all....I’m no perfect angel, but I’ve never done anything that would put me anywhere near a sexual harassment suit.

Also, I get that people change, and White is probably the changed man he says he is (acknowledging I guess that he did do something that he had to change).  So good for him for that.  I also know it’s hard because guys like him may have been thrust into the spotlight and a hero role he never wanted......but I still don’t understand how people can continue with bad behaviors once thrust into that position.

Dick pics, “forcing” her to watch graphic pornography, sticking his hands down his pants then thrusting them in her face, threatening to, and then firing her over questionable issues, not paying her.

That’s all between 2012 and 2016, White would have been 25 to 29 years old, so it’s hard to write it off as him being a stupid kid.  At that  point in his life he’s a role model and hero (whether wanted or no), and a pretty mature adult.....who chose to treat his female employee (she was his drummer) in such a manner.

I just don’t get how people think (or don’t) some time.  One has to wonder how much White has really grown up and changed in a couple short years, but I hope he has.

I suppose, but in the #metoo world we live in today how could they not?  What, did you graduate from the Kim Jong-un School of Journalism?   It could have been considered irresponsible journalism to not have brought up such a relevant topic in today’s society.  Don’t you think it’s fair to hold White accountable for his actions?
