Then there's this... pretty affordable in the grand scheme of things though I suspect there would be lots of maintenance to deal with, considering the high miles

I see that one person guessed my inspiration (and hero!) is Warren Miller who slept in a very cold mini trailer in the 40's, often at Sun Valley.
A quick look around shows that 4 season trailers are rare and kind of special. Need to get thermopane and insulation added. Prob need a bigger propane tank and unless you leave the heat on all the time need to do without water. Minimalist version of camper on pickup bed has its charms- esp. the hard expandable ones- not sure what they do with heat. All the responses! I think I might not be the only one to dream about this! haha:
Wow. A whole 20 days! She gets 10 weeks of vacation a year (nice setup) and she's bragging that she got 20 days "even... with full-time jobs". I think I'm in the 80-day range this year and I work 4 jobs (although 3 are skiing-related). Nice rig, though. That seemed to be the preferred setup in Alaska because it allowed a snowmobile trailer: ![]() |

Isn't the engine in the rear on one of those? That would make for pretty tight quarters. tom |

If I'm not mistaken that little bug camper doesn't have a bed, just a place to cook and a table to eat at; probably make a super cool food truck though

I don't know why, but ever since I first saw this thread I keep coming upon relevant articles like this one:

Keep em coming. This stuff is great. Van-life is big right now. When I did it, we were called dirtbags. I think my mother just thought I was homeless

Good stuff Marc. Those things look nice but if I'm in for 100k I want a toilet.

IDK, trailer vs camper, with a camper/van etc. when staying in it every time you want to take a short jaunt to the store, a restaurant and such, you have to unhook the utilities, leveling blocking, put the awning up, stow chairs,,,, then re-set up on return. Plus when your not using it to stay in, it sits in your yard. With a trailer the tow vehicle can be driven around as daily driver 365 day a year.

I think you put your finger on the best argument for a trailer.
