This has been my solution, granted it only supplies room for one sleeper. I was thinking about building a little platform like what's in the article but I'm lucky if I get to truck camp more then two or three times a year so maybe not worth it for me

I'm a bit confused...the camper /sleep in a truck thing seems cool. But it doesn't make financial sense. you can get hotel room 1/2 hr away or less from any mountain for about 125$ /night..These van/camper thingies are thousands of dollars.
That's a lot of nights in comfy hotel room..

No, you're right. It doesn't make financial sense as an alternative to an occasional cheap hotel. Some of these guys are full-timers so they're saving on rent I guess.

Right. It's more of a lifestyle thing. Living in a van down by the river instead of paying rent every month.

Probably they didn't either?

Ski Bum is a too part thing. Part ski, part bum.

I'm with you Jason

Been there done that but because I was broke. Looking at some of these ski bum rigs makes me think they are rich kid toys more than anything. Real ski bums roll around like Broski

Very nice. I currently have a pop-up myself. This is probably the direction I'm headed. I want something smaller though

A relevant article

What I find funny is that this skier is featured in the new Warren Miller movie but of course an old land cruiser and used camper doesn't move inventory so they stuck her in a brand new VW SUV and a shiny Airstream trailer. I talk about it a little in my review that's on the blog right now. I feel like some of this thread wouldn't be out of place in comments section there (hint)

Yea, I got a kick out of that and her $50 Yeti tumbler --- amazing how they were both incredibly visible in the picture

I'm with you Jason!  IMHO, at this point in my life, not that I do it, but living well on the road would be driving a Porsche and staying at the Ritz.

Must be a tiny one.  Those things are worth a mint.
