Sell the property you get the permit too.
Bingo. Pretty much the only viable option on the table. After reading the posts here and in  the other thread it sounds like there's a fire sale looming and the property w/permits may go cheap. Could be a tempting morsel.

Endo I know you have not been an ACR supporter but at this point the town is pretty much all in on this and don't have much to fall back on if it fall apart.  If Lawson goes belly up where does the town and ski area go from there?  Wait for someone else to come along and invest?  Would that start the permitting process all over again?  Seems to me like you need to support the only horse in the race at this point.

I feel for the people that live in Tupper and their need for some economic boost.  it would be great to have another viable ski area in the Daks so I'm hoping it works out.
Coach, Trust me the town in not all in on this. I know the town needs an economic boost but to support this "horse" would be like jumping on the Titanic as it was going down. I won't re-hash it all but the proposed financing for the ACR would just add huge amount to the locals tax bills.(PILOT without any guarantee of an actual payment)

I agree it would be great to have another viable ski area but Big Tupper has multiple mortgages filed against it for over $1.2 Million and now back taxes of almost $300,00.  And the snowmaking system(which was the only infrastructure of any value) was cannibalized and sold off many yrs ago.

The fact is the area (as a true functioning ski area) has been closed for 17 seasons and the town is still here. I agree that the winter months have seen an economic downturn without the area. I don't know what the answer is but the ACR is not it. It's unfortunate that the Town(who built it) sold it off, shortsighted IMO, should have kept it going like Old Forge does w McCaulley.
Tupper Lake is a really beautiful area but as with many small towns the leadership is lacking the skill take advantage of it. They keep waiting for someone/something to "save" it. They have wasted decades, first with the Prison, now with the ACR. Time for some new leadership.

They were going to put a prison there? Yee gads.
