One of our crew is a Green Egg guy so he's turned a bunch of us on to them. I have one and love the friggin thing. Anyone else have one??? They are so damn easy to cook on, virtually impossible to screw anything up.

No, that's one thing that's cool about this company is they don't whore themselves out. I've had mine for 2 years now and still love it as much as I did the first day I got it.

Re: Big Green Egg

I got the large. Unless you plan on catering or something there's no need to go any bigger, there's plenty of room on there to cook mucho foodo And YES!!! Without a doubt!!!! Use their charcoal. It's expensive but it last's super long and provides the cooking goodness. I can cook 4 to 6 times per fill up of charcoal. I think I use 2 bags a year? Maybe 3? But def use that charcoal.
Dude you will love the thing. You can cook ANYTHING on it

That thing is cool.  How long will it burn at 350? Do you have to keep checking the temp?

Conservatively speaking it will stay at 350 for 10 to 12 hrs. During that time you may have to "fiddle" with the air flow a handful of times. It's really not hard at all to maintain temp in these things. Once you get one you'll see what I mean. It does take some time to figure out the dampers on the thing to keep the temp where you want it, it's simply a learning process. It will be up to 350 in aprox 11 minutes. It holds heat like you've never seen before. You can easily get er up to 700+ for cooking pizza's as well.

For eggcessories I have:
ash tool
cast iron cooking grid (a must!)
grid lifter (a must!)
pizza stone
conveggtor (a must for smoking, slow cooking)
cover

Get one sooner than later!

LOL! They are heavy as hell. It takes a minimum of two guys to load it into a truck, three is preferred. I doubt you actually looked at a true Big Green Egg at Home Depot, but rather an imitation. Big Green Egg can't be found in big box stores but rather thru their own dealers. That's one thing I like about the company. They're never on sale, the price is what it is.

And you are correct about holding heat. The damn thing is like 2 inches thick of solid porcelain ---- amazing

Re: Big Green Egg

It would be worth the effort to get it up there. Take it up in pieces before you put it together. Mine is on my deck and I have ZERO plans on moving it. It's on wheels for a reason, and trust me the wind ain't gonna blow it over. There are only 2 of us that I know who move theirs. One is the egg guy, he has a fancy egg van so there's that, and the other is just plain nuts and takes his to every car race/event he goes to.
