Gore Conditions (2012-2013)

Hey anybody going on Friday?

Made it to Jay for last Friday and found the goods!
Now we have some tracks to make here this week!
The boss must think I'm boozing heavy on Thursday nights ;)

Man I am stuck in Louisiana. That sounds like fun.

I decided to be a one trick pony this year.  Fat boy board hasn't left the basement.  It is pretty beat anyhoo.

Good chance of snow on Monday! March is starting out Strong!

Gore was unbelievable today.
I started off at the skibowl - a friend of mine and I started off going through Tahawus glades, they were in good shape - a few fresh lines but mostly packed yet nice snow. We then went down to ski bowl glades, this was a mistake - it was difficult at best. After we got out of the steeper section I was concerned with twisting a knee so I hiked down to the runout and skied the final bit. It was not pretty - the snow was thick and crusty. I then went to the top. There the snow was glorious. Chat glades were the best I had ever seen them. Darby woods were great. I then met up with another friend and we skied a few places off the map. I got into one steep and deep that was mostly untracked, it felt like a western glade with kneed deep snow on a steep treed pitch, wow what a day. I few more runs on the dark side and then watched my daughter race some.

Conditions right now are some of the best ever. As I look out the window it is snowing nicely - tomorrow should be another great day.

The mountain is in nice shape, I was happy to be a visitor today...and I bought a 16 ounce can of Busch at the Bowl.

i do like going Bowling

Saturday had to have been one of the best days of the year. Everything in the woods (above the Ski Bowl) was great.  Had family day on Sunday, so we skied the Ski Bowl only which was a lot of fun. Big kid stoke day.

Dark Side Glades were amazing all weekend.

Anyone notice that the plastic fence leading to GR was crushed?

yes and i have an interesting anecdote. i was loitering around the entrance on saturday looking for a partner when a couple starting poking around the general area as if they were looking for something. when they skied by me i asked if they were going in to highline. "sure" they said. once in the approach i knew there was something wrong as they had trouble skiing and walking (!!!)the narrow trail. at the first drop in the woman said that they had heard about this trail in the bar last night and wanted to try it. when asked their qualifications, they stated that they has skied rumor (probably side-slipped the entire run)and tahaus glade (novice glade). after explaining in great detail the terrain below and skills needed to safely ski it, they decided to turn around. whew!!! close call.

Just thought I'd pile on...conditions on Friday were excellent!
The whole mountain skied well but my favorites were.
Double Barrel under the Quad, Chatimac & Darkside Glades...Woo Hoo!!
