What are you referring to Harvey?  What is the current upgrade?

Gore has another deal with NiMo. A grant where NiMo matches what Gore spends on high efficiency guns.

The financing was slow so the guns were ordered late, Thanksgiving or December. I think there were 100.

I haven't been to Gore since late December so I haven't seen if they are installed, or even delivered but I was told that the holes were drilled for the towers.

Many are to be used to improve connectivity.. Cedars etc.

Gore was good this past weekend, if a little crowded. Couple of inches of light fluff both Saturday and Sunday nights made for dust on hardpack conditions.

When Twister is closed for racing, it's still slightly annoying to get over to Burnt Ridge. I wish there was a way to get from Showcase to Twister's Little Sister, then on to Echo. Other mountains have crossing zones manned by race volunteers or mountain hosts so that a race on one trail doesn't cut off arteries.

Overall, though, solid weekend and it seems like Gore must have made good money. Cars parked down the access road on both Saturday and Sunday.

Really good day today.  Even though the report read that nothing was groomed the hill was in great shape.  Perfect bluebird all day... and hardly anyone there.  Lies has more of a weird chute thing then it usually does, hopefully they knock that down a bit.

They are also really blowing some snow over on Burnt Ridge... made some nice "twin peaks"...

COLLLLLDDDDD today, but we just had to go as Sarah goes back to Stony brook this weekend.  Sparse crowds.  The surface actually seemed to be more skiable, thanks to the grooming, scant wind and the fact that it was too cold to melt and re-freeze.  Glad we went.  I HIGHLY recommend those heater packs that attach to your clothes and put one in the small of the back and it kept me nice and toasty!  It was quite necessary!

Good day today.  Another bluebird.  Very little wind.  Snow held up all day, very few people up there.  Lies was great in the morning.  Chatie also was great.  Uncas is still the run to beat right now in my book.  I'm ready for the big dump, getting a bit tired of the cruisers.

Re: Gore Conditions

Scersk
Neither as cold nor as windy as most expected, I expect. Light to heavy snow all day, so mostly powder and packed powder. Some icy patches appeared, particularly as the day went on. I found the North Side runs very forgiving, enjoyable, and deserted; Sunway... less so. Even some "pre-moguls" there later in the day. Ms. Scersk (the far better skier) reported some ice on the top blues, easy conditions on Pine Knot, and a bit more ice on Echo (double blue today, she said) than one might have liked.

Ha, I was thinking of hiking (I was actually going to go over to Chatiemac), but I decided not to.

I saw people on Rumor from across the valley. Assumed they were patrollers.

If the guns were blowing anything like the stuff they were blowing on Quicksilver, it would have been sweet. SBQ being down really screwed the flow of the mountain on Sunday.

Here's the rest of the txt that I somehow missed:

"Have to lap via Topridge, Summit lift and then hike. It's a bit of work.

They need snow. BR pretty good. Blowing on Upper Chati, Rumor and parts of Quicksilver.  Rumor was awesome."

Weird day today.  Gondola was down due to wind so ADK spun.  Racing on twister.  No topridge or straight brook.  BRQ did spin.  Wind was awful today.  Snowed most of the morning.  A lot of the snow on the runs made it into the woods due to the wind.

Great coverage on Sagamore and Echo.  Sagamore is starting to pile up nicely... and Echo is as fast as usual.  Unfortunately, I got stuck on the BRQ for about 10-15 minutes due to wind.  After that VERY cold sit, they put up ropes and shut down the BRQ (Around 2pm).

I'm rather concerned with the straight brook chair being down... anyone have any news on that?

Looking forward to my annual trip to Gore 2/8-9.  One thing I've noticed throughout the season watching their website is that Topridge (trail) does not seem to be open even though all or most of the rest of the runs in the Topridge area are. That's strange because I feel like Topridge is the Star of the show there and one of the best runs on the mountain generally.  I've never been to Gore when it was closed.

I asked Harvey and he said he saw some work going on with plumbing on that run so I wonder if that's the reason.  Anyone know?

Website says guns are moving there on Friday...Looks like good snowmaking weather for a while so you should be OK for Topridge when you get here

Hopefully grooming crews really hits the mountain tonight.  Burn ridge was as crusty as it gets.  Lower darby skied nice.  Twister was also torn up.  Looking like tomorrow will be better.  They have been blowing nightly all over the place, there are whalebacks just about everywhere.  They are soft, but there is a lot of snow stored on the lower mountain.

Confirmed this AM by MP. No issues.  Apparently they did blow on it at the beginning of the season too.

Today was quite good. Sunny, not frigid, and the snow was superb, especially Twister, Sagamore and Echo. The mountain knew a few buses were coming today and did their best. I don't think they try as hard for Why Not Wednesdays.
