Haha, I got back from a banquet at my parents' golf community which ended early (as these things do), and I couldn't sleep.

The right continues to eat itself:

Coach, if you think the midterm elections were an indictment of Obama and not purely the result of historically low voter turnout I think you may be a full fledged resident of the spin zone.

Maybe you should go work for him and vote for someone who would be taken seriously on the international stage.

Trump's rantings actually have brought Hitler to mind, come to think of it....  In fact a number of the republican candidates have raised the idea of Hitler into my mind!!!

Don't take my political musing seriously.  I also don't watch political propaganda so I'll save you asking me any of that in the future.  If you want to know how I make my decision on who to vote for, it's simply picking the one that degrades my conscience the least.  No one that has the clout to make it to the presidential running is immune to influence from special interest; impossible in fact.  Too much money needed to get there.

No one would possibly take my stance on every issue either.  They simply wouldn't get elected.  Ever.  Not is this country.

My ideology would probably come closest to the current Pope, and I'm devoutly non-Catholic, non-Christian; very strongly non-Religious.  Still I think he's a wise, sensible person.

I kinda just breezed through this thread...some interesting stuff. I really just wanted to say I think its really cool that good old Harv dropped the no political discussion rule that is prevalent in many other forums and is treating the collective like adults.

Said I wouldn't point fingers at a certain smoker that lives in a white home any more so I won't

You have to read this so you can understand why more govt involvement is not a good thing in any endeavor but particularly health care.  No back talk unless you read it please.  God know how many billions of of tax $ were wasted writing this thing and it will cost health care providers billions more complying with this insanity.  A crazy women from Cali once said "we have to pass it to find out what's in it". This was part of that.

False Pelosi quote: http://www.mediaite.com/tv/the-context-behind-nancy-pelosis-famous-we-have-to-pass-the-bill-quote/

That seemed to be an article on doctors not wanting to learn new codes? Okay....

You have to explain why health care is cheaper in other countries where the government runs it.

Whether you buy the explanation or not, there is no arguing the fact that we pay way more for drugs than any other developed country.

I posted this earlier in the thread (with no response from Coach. I guess he agrees with it) and highlighted the relevant part:

"Bush is also responsible for the unfunded Medicare Prescription Act of 2003.

The projected $400 billion cost over 10 years was known to be a lie by the Bush Administration while they were pushing the bill thru Congress (actual projected cost was over $500 billion). It also prohibits the federal government from negotiating discounts with drug companies, unlike private health insurance companies that do negotiate discounts. So the largest purchaser of prescription drugs (Medicare) in the largest market in the world (USA) is not allowed to get better pricing for its population - us. "

It is a wonderful gift for the drug companies that cost all of us money. This is one of the main reasons for the insane drug prices.

Did you read the article before dragging up a heavily slanted NBC support piece thrown together to support an unsupportable quote from bat shit crazy Nancy?  This was exactly the shit they were trying to hide becuase reasonable people would say WTF!

When exactly would a diagnosis of an injury caused by "human stampede while sleeping or resting" be if any benefit to society or aid in lowering health care costs?  This regulation is going to cost billions.  Next time any of our insurance claims gets delayed this will be to blame.  Drs and hospitals they say will get paid a min of 2 days slower due to this.  That amounts to millions in cash flow for a hospital which means they will have to raise prices.  Unintended consquecseses due to people writing laws that don't understand how business works.

I'm sure Matt will now go spend an hour findng some asinine msnbc piece that will refute one sentence of what I just wrote

Today, hospitals and doctors use a system of about 18,000 codes to describe medical services in bills they send to insurers. A new federally mandated version will expand the number to around 140,000

W22.02XD Walked into lamppost, subsequent encounter
W22.02XS Walked into lamppost, sequela

How much do your premiums increase when you get coded for the 3rd lamppost hit
