How is it looking as far as thin spots and Such?  My son's ski club is heading up tomorrow morning and the advisor sent a text where GP stated "things look good".  Knowing how "optimistic " they tend to be condition wise I find the report sketchy.

I would definitely call that report "optimistic"... it should get a little better with tonight's grooming.

I could here the hum of snowmaking this morning so I drove over to check it out. My thought was, cool, I'll go make a few turns early tomorrow just cause. Well, turns out the only guns going were on that stupid fucking tubing hill and the base area.

So yea, Pro, I'll see you at Trax

Thanks Camp. Maybe I'm a Pollyanna but it doesn't look all that bad

I decided not to go after all. It wasn't very good yesterday and nobody from our crew was skiing today so I couldn't motivate myself to go alone. Maybe hear from Parris about his sons experience today...
As far as the webcam view, what you can see is the best snow on the mountain. Not a good representation for the rest. Based on the upcoming forecast I would wait until February hopefully after a storm.

Brownski, please keep this in mind as well. We live right there so we aren't all jazzed up on going when conditions aren't to our personal liking.  We know it will turn good again and we'll be right there when it does. Just pointing that out because I don't want to be a debbie downer on anyone visiting GP. If you're there tomorrow look for us in the bar

We just got home fro GP.  In general it was "East Coast Firm" and fast.  There were several areas of ice from the snow guns which were marked.  They opened up chair 5 via shuttle.  We stayed on the main hill.  All in all if you have good edges it was okay.  They were blowing snow under chair 1-A, the top of the terrain park, and also the connector trail by chair 4 while we were there.  Watch for bare spots along the right side of Trojan, and where Fields flattens out as it flushes into Wendy's, Christies, and Medow area.  I did see the groomer out when I first got there.

Thanks for all the input guys. Between the poor conditions and junior wanting to be home for the packers game I think I'll have to delay my visit.

Due to the weather in the forecast, the ski area will be closed tomorrow, 1/17/17 and reopen on Wednesday, 1/18/17.

Camp, this weather situation is a mess--very depressing. It looks like the next snow making opportunity won't be until later next week. The question is how much snow will be lost between now and then. Temp's will be near 50 this weekend, so it looks like spring skiing.

MLK weekend was dismal, as people just did not come out. Monday was a near ghost town.

That darn Al Gore and his global warming!

It sure is! The only place with snow is GP and there's some in the woods, everything else is gone. My guess is by the weekend GP will be the only ones with snow. The unfortunate thing with these small snowmaking windows they'll only be able to maintain what is opne now and not try to get anything else opened up.
