nice pics. good to see you too camp -- sorry i cut it short but  i was hungry and thirsty! fun family gp weekend, the first in at least 3 year with the bad winters and the oldest in grad school.

saturday was nice (and cold) with a fresh kote of grabby snow, squalls and the mountain to our selves. We ran into more pa folks then locals for sure. song was offering $10 tix for gp refugees. limited terrain  -  basically karyiatis, elysian/stoic/christies and iliad - but what was open was nice with some wales blown overnight to noodle around on for junior. no park setup which seems odd  to draw to draw out the job honks and kiddies. it would be easy to throw a few features on whatever the little offshoot of stoic is called!? the snow got better and faster as the day went on and the fresh snow got ski'd into the base below. It was fun to watch and cheer the racers on, we heard nothing but good feedback on the event other than the cold. left around 2:30 to hit hopshire farms and  cortland beer, then back to trax later for a fun cover band.

sunday cold and clear, some high quality gunpow on upper iliad. decent snow, i ski'd tele most of the day to make  the 3 ways down a bit more interesting until the legs gave out. a few bare spots  and rocks were starting to poke through. swapped skis and did some afternoon karyiatis cruisers with non-skiing younger daughter who joined us for a few obligatory runs.  also got to ride the lift with powderqueen!

sunday night they groomed the wales into a fine corduroy carpet perfect for mixing in short radius and high speed big gs turns monday morning, especially after the sun broke the flat light around 10:30. temps rose from low 20's into the 30's quickly and we left around 1:00 when the snow started to get a little sticky.

all in all a good weekend, good snow on limited terrain, gonna need some real snow to last much longer! will likely be it for me at greek until next year unless we get  another dump

Accuweather is still only calling for 4-8 inches in Virgil. Good grief! A foot is expected in Central VT.

Drew has been spot on with his forecasts this winter so hopefully that remains true for this event

That would be nice, as I haven't skied Greek in a few weeks, and would like to do so this weekend. It woudl also give the ski area a boost for the remaining few (hopefully) weeks of the season.

I am salivating at the storm totals in the East, as I'm currently in Colorado and haven't seen a snowflake in days. It's spring skiing out here. What's wrong with this picture. I do plan to either ski Greek or Killington this weekend.

Three feet!  Holy cow!

Shame on you for skiing unopened terrain.

I just returned back home last evening, so won't be able to hit Greek Friday morning, but plan to be there on Saturday. Hopefully there's a little untracked remaining.

Hey Camp, what time do you think they'll open chair 5 today? Seems like weekdays the often don't open it at the same time as the rest of the place.

Unfortunately I was in Cali all week for work - left before the storm. First time I have to travel for work in years and I miss the storm of the decade! #%#$^#$^$!~!

BTW - since GP did put out some multi-pass / family pricing this year we are going to be back there for next season (and the rest of this season - although Lab has been closed since the storm so I may hit that when it opens). I always said I'd come back if they did that, and I bet others will as well.

Oh - and why do you think they are showing Herc and Zeus closed today? Snow blow off those trails?

That's great
I know there is some big savings for family's now. On Tuesday I was talking to a friend who buys 7 passes. He was telling me this year was a $1000 cheaper than last year.

That and I bet they got tracked out. There were a shit-ton of people there on Wednesday. But, like any closed trail, I recommend skiing ti yourself to find out why it's "closed"
The wind was absolutely rippin' the last 2 days.

Thanks Camp - ends up I can't make it up anyway...stupid work always messing up my fun!

Going to get some scraps this weekend. I got some skins that I've never used - may throw those on tomorrow and hit a couple local spots down here.

Yes - the family discount hits the mark just right IMO. I enjoyed Song and Lab (well, Lab not as much as Song) but they didn't feel like home the last couple of years.

Heading up there tomorrow Camp. Had a couple good nights this year at GP. Will be good to be back!

Went over to what was once Innsbruck USA in Binghamton today (now Aqua Terra park) for a few laps with some AT gear I bought a couple years ago (never skied it last season due to the worst season ever, and only skied it inbounds on a nice 10" day at Song this year). It was great to put the skins and and really give the setup a test. Did a few laps, had great powder - some crust on the more exposed areas but mostly still very soft. There were some snowboarders there hiking up for a few laps as well. And a group of about four or five crazy guys running in the snow - carrying sandbags since I guess running in 18" of snow isn't hard enough

who here skis greek from Ithaca?

Looking for a ride for a very solid Female skier. Green to Black needs more technique but is really strong and powerful.

She could be a downhiller if given enough slope time, but cant get a ride any suggestions I am out of town working most of the time.

Thanks

Other than ski club the only thing I can think of would be to try and get in touch with patrol. I think there are a coouple of them that live over that way.

Too bad the days of hitch hiking are long gone......
