HAHA!
Your buddy should get a good lawyer Loco, those docs make a whole lotta $$$! I had no idea that the Daily Record was still in business, my father used to run the press room there and he was president of the union. I thought I would share just so you guys remember I have roots out there and I'm not just a weirdo posting on a NY ski forum from Arizona! And losing your cool on a twelve year old kid....not cool. |

Saw this earlier. They attract some people who are real lowlifes. Go in the lodge and find the section called the "Parent's Lounge". It's more like the vape lounge. I've nearly choked walking through there. Then ride the lift at South and look at how chewed up the seat padding is and the 3 layers of stickers on every chair. After reaching the top of the lift, ski the Jumpin Jack trail which is under the said lift. If you don't do the tricks that the people on the lift want to see, they'll scream "GAPER" or "GO BACK TO NORTH". Try the other trail and it's no different. I almost got hit by this idiot on twin tip skis. I was turning onto a trail that was merging out of the one I was on. I wasn't on the correct side of the trail, so I looked up before crossing. It looked clear so I went across. As I was in the middle of the trail, this idiot comes flying over the hill so fast that his skis are all jittery. He screamed "FUCK YOU' even though I was clearly in front and had the right of way, and did everything possible to be safe.
I've never been to a ski area with such a rough crowd. Even Mount Snow's Carinthia terrain park (which is also a dedicated park section) isn't nearly as bad. It attracts skiers and riders who have a love for the freestyle aspect of the sport and want to experience the best parks in the east. Mountain Creek attracts kids whose parents dropped them off to get rid of them, or people who want to smoke pot, drink, and run wild. Can't wait to go to college and not ski there anymore.

Hey now........this describes me and I don't beat up on 12 year olds! |
Should've added "with zero concern for anyone else on the hill".

City people often seem to think that the world revolves around them.

Would think this article would be referencing an incident at Huntah. not our beloved "Creek" Think it's finally time for me to bid farewell to this iconic ski area. It's been one g=heck of a ride all these years, but I realy don't want some 12 yo punching me in the face and punching a hole in my body with his/her ski pole. Oh wait! Think I'm 180 degrees out with my thinking. Welcome back Mountain Creek!
I'm really glad I wasn't there on Valentine's Day and seen that. I would have chewed that 44 yo schmucks ass BIG TIME. Unreal. Would love to show up in court the day the case is heard. Can just imaging what Samuel or his attorney, or both would say. Hope the 12 yo is ok. I'm sure he was traumatized from the incident. What 12 yo wouldn't be. Sad.

That is definitely true at Mountain Creek. It's not that everyone from the city acts like this, but there are plenty who do. It's mostly the park kids who are the worst offenders. The race kids are equally bad. They arrive every morning in their Mercedes, BMW's, Range Rovers, Porsches, etc, completely blocking off the shuttle bus stop (cause you can do anything you want if you own an $80,000 car), then proceed to close off 3 trails to race on, even when only skiing on one. They also leave all their $hit all over the lodge, despite numerous signs saying that unattended belongings will be removed. I nearly got killed by a few of these idiots who thought it would be fun to play human slalom and ski 6 inches away from me when there was no one else on the trail.

You need to source a get-up like this before you plan to go back there.

Sounds like a great place to go for 100 days/season. |
Snoloco I hope you go to college and your new home mountain has the best four snow years in its history. You are a good guy.
I ride with Crazy Horse!

We always knew it would come to this! Just a shame that a full grown man assaulted a preteen kid.

Maybe it was just the day that I went but I get the impression that Carinthia is so huge that it doesn't get crazy. There are so many lines through that place! I even saw a dad with his two little kids riding in the half pipe last year. I lost track counting the features.... |
It's the best park in the east by far. 90+ features now, vs Mountain Creek with about 20. The acreage there is larger than all of Plattekill.
I just think that they attract actually good park skiers and riders instead of poorly behaved Shaun White wannabes. I was skiing down into the base area and was trying to judge the line at the HSQ to decide whether to take it or take the double chair. I accidentally cut in front of a feature and someone hit it and I cut him off. No swearing, no "GO BACK TO THE MAIN FACE", no fighting. We both apologized to each other and went about our day as usual. They've never had a "park pass" or restrictions on who can be in there, but it's completely civilized.

The only positive thing coming out of this story is the 44 yo lunatic wasn't packing and if so, may have shot the kid. Thank g_d that didn't happen.
Note to self: Stay away from the Creek and Huntah. World's a way different place now. Society as whole is gravitating closer and closer to being completely f'ed up. Very Sad.
