Plattekill Conditions (2013-2014)

With the arrival of the FIRST SNOW this morning, Thursday, Oct 24, we are buzzing with excitement and anticipation of a great ski season here on the mountain. We are located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains in Roxbury, NY.

New for this year, we are making significant snowmaking upgrades and switching over to more energy efficient snowguns, adding learn to tele packages with full equipment rentals to our array of lessons, expanding our learning center terrain and making several ticketing upgrades. The finishing touches are being put on the new trail maps and our lodge to welcome old friends and new.

Our tentative opening day is set for December 7th and our tubing park opening is December 26th.   This year we are continuing to offer a variety of discounts thru our online store and adding special promotions, ski and stay lodging programs and adding an all new dining partner page to help guests with vacation planning on our website.   In addition our Food Service Dept. is revamping menu options in our Bistro to keep all our skiers and snowboarders well fed while out using up energy on the slopes this winter.

Yes I think this is the earliest I can remember that they are going to make snow. They told you this Harvey?

My source is reliable.  Of course if he changes his mind, it will be different.

I probably ski Platty opening day this Saturday December 7 looks good, anyone else might be their?

Saturday 12/14/13 is opening day.  Warm weather and r*in kept them from opening on 12/07.  All the Catskill Mountains will be open by then.

Plattekill's had 30+ inches of natural to date and it's gone.  Those trails straight back hadn't had any manmade yet.

I doubt any Catskill area has any natural left.

The snow we received Sunday into Monday was amazing for our base because temps dropped yesterday from 33 to 6 in about 12 hours and all that heavy wet froze solid to base. We will be open on North Face by Friday.

We'll need about 18" of new to open trails that haven't yet had snowmaking. We are almost there.

For some reason the Point Forecasts are all running behind... maybe server limitations with the storm?

Dude, put the device down and ski.  You shouldn't even be thinking about this place.  One of the hottest threads right now is about snow tires.
