Re: Road Trip 2019

Didn’t stop in Chicago but getting through the traffic around the city majorly sucked. Got to Gurnee, IL around 6 PM central time. I googled “best food in Gurnee” and discovered this place. It was my first butter burger.

The hotel and Culver’s both are are pretty much right across from Six Flags so we were able to squeeze in a couple rides before they closed at 9.

Never saw a two story merry go round before.

Closed it down

Something about pre-peeled boiled eggs at breakfast buffet makes me uneasy

What sticks out the most about PA in my mind is the 55 mph limits on I-90.
Sent from the driver's seat of my car while in motion.

PA has raised the speed limit to 70 mph on most limited access highways.
But we still have the worst road conditions in the country even due to now having the highest gas tax.

Well, I have had a glass of wine but I will stand by the fact that the Waffle House is awesome.

Calling an audible for tomorrow to steer the trip away from tropical depression Barry. It means one fewer teller coaster day but maybe an additional ball park before we head to Texas.

Obstructed view is part of the Wrigley charm I guess. What do you expect from a place built in 1914? A couple times I forgot there was a runner on third until the guy took his lead.

The Cubs are looking out though; right over our shoulder...

Last comment on Wrigley; place is so small and so much in the middle of its neighborhood that people can get a view of the game from the rooftops of some buildings. I guess there’s always been a culture of hanging out on the roof and watching the game, but in the 80’s people starting putting seats up so it became a business.

I think he met me but yes, Waffle House is awesome. Culver’s was pretty good too. I never would have thought butter would add anything to a cheeseburger but I was wrong

While the wife didn’t appreciate the sore neck she got from her Fenway experience this past spring (body and legs facing one direction, crane the neck in another to actually see the field), it was, as she said (and the kids keep making fun of her for), a slice of Americana.  Good times.

I appreciate the trip log and the effort Brownski....but better you than me!  In the 36 hours from late Friday to Monday we logged about 17 hours of driving.  Gawd it sucked, but we had fun in Quebec City and a nice overnight in Placid whilst the eldest son had a successful orientation at Plattsburgh.  I don’t know how we ever survived the drive to Florida back when we used to do it....
We REALLY need a proper roll eyes emoji!!

My buddy's  and his son were also at the Platt orientation this weekend..

Last time I went to Fenway I sat with a I beam in my face and water dripping on my head..It  wasn't raining..
