Skiing in the woods

I skied in the woods tonight.

It was thin, but I skied all the flat spots (lower yellow) and hardly bottomed out. The snow was so nice.

No you live closer to the snow so I think you are not as desperate.  I drive 275 miles for 2 ski days or 3 it's my choice.

Right now it's best to ski in the woods at night, if you saw what the base was really like you would never ski it at all.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Very nice tonight. Malleable crust with 2 inches of cheese on top.  So nice.

Shaman called it... after you go out and back, your trail will be skiable.

I'll see if I can find a pic

I like the woods too. The trees between Plunge and Freewill were great today. In the upper elevations there was still some significant crust leftover, plus a few inches from Tuesday. Sorry, no pictures.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

Wow when you consider how much snow we've had — we have Gore at 67 inches, well below "average" — conditions, in our woods at least, are really nice.

Behind Square Eddy HQ some ROCKING woods have been carved out. Met up with Lincoln, for an apres ski ski.

^^Nice shot. Looks even better on desktop.

Late arrival, long drive.

And yet, the last remains of true fluffiness around here, at least for the next few days, lie in the woods, right now.  I have to lay some tracks.

Sunday we got out the back door for a bit of kick and glide. Fixedheeln used her T4's or the first time to feel them out.

^^NICE shot.

Wow the woods were good this evening.  Firm carvy corn is the best for linking turns on our mellow pitch hill.  Love it.

I took the time over the last few days to clear the brush away from the headwall of six turn hill.  Looking forward to the season.  :)
