This kind of rain is really going to get some of the dirt that's been crusted on my car for months finally off.

Major wind and sheets of rain last night. Woke me up. The type of storm that makes me open the curtain just to look outside and marvel at the power of the weather.

Part of me is starting to kinda smile when we get this type of weather. I mean... if we are going to have one of the all time worst winters ever... it might as well be the all time worst winter beyond any doubt. There is not much of a difference between second worst or third worst so it might as well be a totally beautiful disaster and be the all time worst beyond any debate.

I'd still like to get at least one powder day in this season though...

Thunder, rain and lightning had the dog crying like a baby last night.

Might I recommend that the next "Storm Speculation xx/xx/xx" thread be titled "Rain Speculation xx/xx/xx"?

Will there be ANY snow on the back end of this for the high peaks area?

Last night was unreal.

Nothing like getting home and your OCD kid asks "Alexa" about the weather and she tells you about the tornado watch. Total flip out.

I put our rain gage away in "winter" but I wouldn't be surprised if we got 3 inches of rain in an hour.

I wasn't exactly personally scared (maybe a little), but very concerned about property damage.  Hopefully that our building (work) is ok, it doesn't handle extreme weather too well.

Got about one cubic foot of snow left from Jonas.  Schools opening late as bridges are out.

minor..few inches maybe...

Hate to say it but the Fat lady is now on the stage...As for the Northeast is concerned, it's pretty much over..Surprises happen but I'm not to optimistic.
There will be a cool down Saturday , Canada will see snow, areas north of Montreal..
Then it looks like a carbon copy of yesterday's storm for the middle of next week.. The Euro has a colder scenario..That said, the Euro bombed on this event..

Well if you're right - I'm glad I'm headed to Utah March 15th.  At least they have snow and hopefully we can get lucky.

Guess it'll be dust on crust in the ADK this weekend.  Almost want to pull the plug on my plans to go up to whiteface, but I really want an UBU.

Multiple mountains have publicly announced plans to fight mother nature in the form of more snowmaking.  Places that have announced it:

Mountain Creek
Hunter
Windham
Killington
Mount Snow

There's probably more that I didn't list.  Glad to see this dedication in keeping the season going, even when they're not making any money off of it.

I'd say they're after all-of-the-above. They're probably most concerned about how this affects next years pass sales. Maintaining their long term brand is worth a lot.

Scotty Jack - how bad was it in Wilmington last night?  Today?

Any news on what's going on at the mountain?  Web cam has been down...

I love seeing those birds like that. Funny how they always seem to disappear once the season starts.

Quite a bit if ice last night once you got above the east branch of the AuSable.  It was all rain in the Forks and a half inch of ice at my house in the Acres about 400 feet higher.

Washing machine repairman's van slid off my driveway into the woods this morning the only thing that stopped it was he had left his door open and it got caught on a tree and that was after the driveway was sanded.  Two hours later and another sanding the ice is gone from the driveway. The guy left it parked on the steepest spot on the driveway and it just slid back when he wasn't in the van.  Crazy.
