What's the smallest ski area you've been to? Has anyone been to the yawgoo valley in Rhode island? 163 vertical feet!(the true vertical. Most ec ski areas lie about vertical)
They seriously couldn't find a bigger hill in RI? That's a mound of dirt. To put it in perspective, wachusett's bunny hill is over 200 vertical feet. It's the ocean state's only remaining ski area. I hope it stays in business.

Has to be either Mt Peter or Tuxedo Ridge, not sure which is smaller. That is assuming you don't HRHQ.

I learned to ski a Yawgoo back in the late 70's. Have you ever been to RI? There are not many hills to speak of. The highest point in the state is sub 1K ft. |
It's the coastal plain, but NW ri gets almost to 1000 feet. And they get double the snowfall of coastal south of I-95 RI. Quite a bit higher than the around 200 foot summit of yawgoo!

Tuxedo has 400 feet vertical. Mt peter has 450 So it's more than DOUBLE the vertical of yawgoo! I'm fine with 400 feet vertical, but 163 vertical feet isn't much use to people unless you've never skied a day in your life. Better than nothing though especially for locals. It's always nice to have a place close by no matter what. http://mountainvertical.com/best-skiing-snowboarding-pa-ny.php

Nice Pro!
Two seasons ago my ski days were dramatically reduced by some health issues in my family. On a weekend in late March, Zelda could see it was killing me and she sprung me for an incredible weekend at Gore. On the way up, late Friday, I realized that when I got into town there'd be maybe 90 mins of night skiing left at the ski bowl. I called the Shaman ... wondering if the lifties would be bummed, maybe they'd be looking to close it up if no one was there. I decided to stop in just to get to see how everyone is doing. I poked my head into the booth, and I guess the guys were expecting me. I told them I would do 5 runs and quit. I booted up as fast as I could and cranked out my five runs. I guess I was hootin and hollerin a bit and they just kept waving me on. What's the vert on the village chair? Got to be less than 200. Maybe 125. I did maybe 15 runs and called it. I counted it: ski day 28. http://nyskiblog.com/north-creek-ski-bowl-night-skiing/

That definitely counts as a ski day (or night).
As a kid, I took my first lessons at Alpine Meadows in Corinth, NY. I loved that place. 3 (short) t-bars to get to the top. :)

Willard is pretty small too. GREAT vibe though. Awesome family mountain.

The Mighty Dry Hill at 300 vert , south of Watertown NY on the fringes of the Tug hill Plateau. I ski it for free whenever my wife. Goes shopping at the Mall there

Is that place still runnning? That's the kind of place a normal middle class guy could actually start his own hill. Little local hills like that are really cool. They used to be all over the place(still are in quebec), but for some reason they all died out. I'm wondering if they have a tow rope for tubes too? That would a nice touch as well.

Campgaw is the smallest I have skied and I think that's 299. What is Pisgah? Does Dry hill in Watertown count?

Dynamite Hill in Chestertown (just off exit 25 on I-87) has 65' vertical. Smaller than Starting Gate at Gore. Bring oxygen tanks!

Mount Peter is on the top and Tuxedo Ridge is on the bottom. For me it is very hard to tell the size difference between the two. They have the same vertical, but Tuxedo Ridge's runs are longer. Mount Peter is smaller in the acreage they own, but is a high density trail layout. Tuxedo ridge is a more standard density trail layout, so the acreages seem to equal out, even though Tuxedo Ridge owns more land.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

I'd prefer the first pic. Wide open trails. My type of hill :) You can barely tell 450 vertical from 400. It's barely a difference.

Cochran's just outside Burlington boasts ~350 vert, but I'm not even sure it's that much. Also, never skied Villa Roma resort in western Catskills (~5 trails), but I don't think there's much vert there.

LOL MadPat...what's the shortest amount of vert you've ever skied at Tux to keep the streak going? Or anywhere?
