It was a red staked area just short of the water.  I assume during rainy season it would be underwater.

Matt Kurcher played himself into a medal.  His interviews were great.  Spirit of what the Olympics is all about.  I wasn't a fan of him but I am now going forward.

Golf is great in the Olympics and this course is really fun.

I've liked him since 1998 when he had his father caddy for him in the US Open:

MEH I was not that impressed with the Olympic golf.  They have to figure out a different format.  Something like riders cup.  It was  like another Golf Tourney to me when it could have been something a lot more exciting.  Doing a hybrid rider cup format to cover all the countries would probably take the full three weeks to widdle it down but it would be exciting to watch.  May be if they used real Amateurs they could get them to commit to the three weeks.  These pros would not do it.

I don't think he broke any rule there by hitting grass. Had he hit the ground I  he def would've been in violation of grounding his club in a hazard marked with red stakes.

Yo Campi its like peeing in the wind with that guy.   How the golf game?   I keep fluttering between 11 and a 12.   Been a little more consistent lately.  Getting off the tee in one helps out the score quite a bit.  Last 4 rounds I lose three balls.  That's good for me.  Up here when you loose a ball good chance you are finding pro-v looking for yours.

LOL, it sure is....

Haven't played much lately. I've been siding my house so that's taken up all my free time lately. For me the best time of year to play golf is right around the corner. I love fall golf, seems people hang up their clubs right about now as leagues start to come to a close so the courses are near empty. Plan to get our with Racer here this fall. I know we have a tourney coming up in October so I'm looking forward to that.

Last time I played my new driver really helped me keep it in play off the tee so I'm looking forward to getting out again. Hopefully with Pro as well. One nice thing about playing with Pro is he usually gives me his used pro v 1's ---- they're like new to me  I always kid him about guys finding his balls in places they never thought possible before.

Which balls do you guys normally play?  Tough to hit good approach shots if you keep changing the ball you play.  Pick one and stick to it is my advice if you want to improve your scoring.  I give all the other decent balls I find to my kid. The crap balls I hit a handful at the range before teeing off.

I've been a Bridgestone guy for about 5 years now.  I play the B330RX.  Been using the same ball for 5 rounds.  It's getting a little dinked up but switching it out seems like bad luck to me.  In the fall when it gets cold I go to the E6 as its softer.  I prefer the yellow ball as its easier to see and find in the fescue.  In the fall I go to white once the leaves start falling.

I like the ProV1x but they are never on sale.  I can get the Bridgestones for 30 bucks a doz.

I was using NXT but switched to Pro-v.   Bought 2 dozen a couple weeks ago and I still have that many, not the same ones I started with but I find them all the time.  There are spots on the lower course I can always go to and pick up 5 six balls in a matter of minutes and a few of those will be pro-v.

Had an Eagle hole out from the fairway on the 7th at Whiteface Club today.  I was playing thru a 4some.  They waved me up and a hit a 9 from 135 that felt good.  You can't see the green and these guys I was playing thru all started jumping around the green.  I wished I could have seen it go in.

Also had my first ever birdie on 18 there.  Shot a 74 with one double bogey.  Very tough and tight course.  If you finish with the ball you started with its a victory.

You might see me begin posting in here because I realized that golf seems to be a readily available activity near Potsdam.  I'm going to get myself a set of clubs and start playing.  It's not quite as expensive as I thought it would be either, so that's a good thing.
I've lived in New York my entire life.

That's odd.  I thought expensive would be a good thing for Richie Rich here.

I've never played golf but I hear it's the kind of thing where you want to try/demo/borrow a bunch of clubs before you commit to your own set just to figure out that you'd rather be playing with something different or even if you like the game.

Usually when people haven't tried something, they refrain from giving others advice based on what they've heard and save that for people that do have experience.

I'll probably just use my dad's clubs to start out.  He doesn't play anymore.

I have played before and enjoy it.  My dad and I did it for a short time, but he had back problems and had to stop.  When we were both playing, I used his ancient set of clubs (from when he was my age) when he got his new set.
