Timberline WV Oct 2012: Matt and Pat's Roadtrip

We're at Canaan Resort Hotel for the night. We paid $10 for the room.

We visited both Canaan and Timberline today.

Pitch at Timberline looks great.

Definitely hitting Timberline tomorrow.

About 18 to 20 inches at the base.

Snowing really hard right now.

Started to see snow south of Keyser, WV...

Trees were bowing over the roads and power lines...

Did some recon at the resorts.... Bout 18-20" and coming down really hard now...

Matt says he took a sick pic that shows the pitch at Timberline but he's only got one bar and couldnt get it to me.

I think our buddies are sleeping now.

Just got an attempt of a phone call from ML242. Roads are shit, there isn't anywhere to get gas once you're in the snowfall area. No power, trees down everywhere. Make sure to gas up in PA.

MadPat and MattChuck are making history. All those other guys will be following their skintrack and farming their turns.

They really hit the nail on the head on timing and route as well. Looks they got there during a bit of a lull in the storm, plus approaching from the north they would be following valleys rather than driving over mountain ranges like poor ML242. It could be quite the party at the Canaan hotel tonight...
