Skiing with a snowboarder yesterday at Smuggler's Notch, on property in an unmarked fairly steep glade the snowboarder caught enough of a hidden rock that it ejected him into a tree headfirst. The helmet now has about a 1/3 inch indentation from the tree, but he was completely fine other than "shaking it off".
That's the first time I've ever been skiing with someone when I actually saw the safety benefit of a helmet in action. You may say that 1/3 inch is a small indentation, but it could have been nasty if that was his skull. I'm of the age where I grew up not wearing a helmet, because nobody did back then, but I can assure you I'll never ski without a helmet again.
Can we get SOME snow? Please?
