Assuming you have not lost your job what are you spending your stimulus money on?
So far I decided to buy a 7500 watt generator. I went with duel fuel as I have a buried 600 lbs propane tank in my yard. I researched which one was for sure made in the US so my money was staying in US and bought it locally Last week to keep retail sales and sales tax close to home.
Im looking to pay a local tradesman to paint my house instead of doing it myself this summer and buy a bunch of meat from local farmers.
I think it’s important to keep this money as locally as possible to help restart local economies
I honestly felt bad getting this money when I’m still working though my income will take a hit. I have some customers that are providing Covid related products that are going nuts. Our factories have prioritized those orders and I’ve gotten letters from a CEO of a major health care Oem thanking us. But my biggest customer by far is in what has been considered non essential medical so that is basically shut down. They make capital equipment used to detect cancer which somehow is no longer important. I have a job still but my commission for the year is shot.
If there is a round 4 of stimulus it should not be going to everyone in a check. I hope it just goes to unemployed.
Please don’t turn this thread into policrat- let’s try to keep this positive
if You French Fry when you should Pizza you are going to have a bad time
I don’t think I’ve ever given the IRS a routing number, so I assume “the check is in the mail”.....with Trump’s signature and all.
We have been cooking at home 100% of the time for the last 5 weeks or so. I plan on using some money to support some of the local restaurants trying to do take away meals. Probably squirrel the rest away because it looks like my wife’s normal summer jobs (she’s a school nurse the rest of the year) may not pan out this summer. I feel like I could do more to stimulate, but we’ll see.
I received mine last Wednesday. I've been thinking about how to best help someone or some businesses. I haven't ordered takeout from any restaurants. I like eating in them but not much of take-out guy. I drop off items at a local food bank a couple times a year. I guess I could just give them money instead. I have a friend on the local municipal board who's likely more in tune with local needs I can contact.
He may not like socialism but his thread has stirred me to do more than just think about it and to act. So thanks for bringing this up, Z.
