If you have skied at Whiteface and would like to share your take on the experience please post it here. Also, if anyone has questions about Whiteface this is the thread to ask and for those in the know to answer.

As for me I am an absolute WF homer, but I’ll try not to let my bias get out of control. I’ll try to keep it real.

Skied Whiteface yesterday (7 Dec) and Gore on (6 Dec)..... The conditions at Whiteface are much better to say the least. The conditions change from turn to turn because the wind has blown the the snow around, but overall the skiing was very, very good!! I did bring a GoPro video camera but never took it out of my boot bag....sorry! I'm going back to Whiteface tomorrow (9 Dec) and will try to take some video.

Very, very nicely done adkmike.  Good skiing, nice vibe.

For some reason that helmet cam did not make me queasy.  Does it have some special image stabilization feature?

Thanks for posting it.

Today was the best day of the season for me by far. My trail pick of the day was Mt. Run, snow guns stayed on all day, man-a made-pow and soft bumps...lots of fun. Essex skied great as did Victoria. It was great to have Boreen and Brookside open. The conditions held up all day.

NOOOO. I was supposed to go to Whiteface today. I heard 40mph winds though, I figured it wouldn't be worth the two hour drive to find it on wind hold.

Gore wasn't very good. Hawkeye didn't open.

You should have gone. At the base there was a change over to mostly rain, but it stayed all snow from the summit down to lower valley. The snow was wet, but it was snow. The wind never really happened. Thruway opened as did Drapers. Even though it was a Super Sunday it was pretty much walk on the gondi especially after 12:00. I was wet, but the conditions where good.

I think hiking Whiteface in October just gave me bad skiing karma for the year. Snow tends to be everywhere that I was at, somewhere I was thinking of going to then didn't, or was ruined before I could get there.

-Bring my skis to Buffalo, Niagara Snowpark closed for the season that day.
-Bring my skis home, skiing at Gore was mehhh.
-Leave my skis home, 3 feet in Buffalo, 3ish feet in Central to Northern Vermont
-Come home, don't go to Whiteface. No wind, good snow, went to Gore. Not much better than round one
-Still home, start working tomorrow. Dumping in Buffalo, NWS says Gore will probably get around 6 inches in the next 36 hours.

At this rate, Utah will probably get dumped on the week after Jan 13th and March 20th, and It will probably start snowing at Gore around Jan 20th

Anybody know how much is in the woods?

How much does it take to get the trees going at Whiteface?

Been skiing WF since I was 3 yrs old, 24 now...here's a shot from last spring after coming back from early season knee injury at ALTA.

I consider WF my "home mountain" even though I'm not from the LP area(family owns property in LP, though...saving money to build my dream ski house on it one of these days...).  My dad has been skiing WF since he was 13, and my whole family has been skiing there ever since.  Best place east of the Rockies in my opinion.  Vertical drop on par with places like Snowbird...except on the East coast...how could you not be stoked about that?!

A good SW flow off Lake Ontario tends to jackpot Whiteface even more than a strong NW upslope flow.
