Should be more than now.  Should have 5 days of snowmaking starting Monday before next weekend.

Wf is about a month ahead of schedule compared to normal seasons

This post was updated on .
Yesterday it was as slick as snail snot on much of higher terrain.  Facelift was ok.  WF has been getting away with operations f ups due to all the natural snow which is pretty much now gone.  High time to get thier crap together.

Here is an appeal to everyone to help make things better.  When you see rocks stop and toss them into the woods.  Not sure why there are so many damm pebbles to baseballs mixed in our snow compared to every other ski area.  Think it has to due with ops using those old crappy work cats instead of snowmobiles.

Management is doing it’s best to try to piss off every local in any number of ways.  The natives are decidedly not happy.

Wow thanks I think.  What’s the deal?   WF really turned things around in a positive way the last few years.    Something change?

Better tone it down a bit or management might ask you for your employee badge back.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

Ahhh, they've imported what used to be known as the "Gore Mountain Technique"

Your skis will still work with a few dings in them.  It's the skier Coach, not the skis or the tune.

Mostly true, but the tune is important....like driving a great winter car with good winter tires.

There's no comparison to a freshly tuned pair of skis. It's the difference between eating steak, and hot dogs. No doubt, a good skier can send a shitty pair of skis no problem, but anyone should be able to appreciate a properly tuned pair of skis. It just provides a smooth consistent, and confidence inspiring aspect to your skiing that you don't expect when skiing on shitty skis for a while. I tune my skis about once a month. Many times I do it myself.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

I tune my own skis every 2 days and switch edges on the 2nd day
I absolutely hate skiing on non sharp skis on Eastern snow
Out west you could get away with not tuning but not at WF
Skiers that say they tune once a month or once a season probably have no clue as to what a good turn is or is supposed to feel like becuase you can’t do that of round edges or a non flat ski

Re: Whiteface Conditions

With the crappy forecast for the weekend I decided to use a half vacation day and skied this morning
I hit the jackpot and got a perfect blue bird day with an inversion
Victoria was definately the run of the day with the inversion and being in the sun
Mt Run is still pretty firm and slick after being a hockey rink on Saturday
Lower mountain skied well as well
Got 9 Gondi rides in good for 22.5k Vert in a half day
Every ride up was Keith people I know and skied with a lot of good skiers thru the day for a run or 2

Looked like parons was groomed and good to go but Summit lift was not able to run.  The marketing response was well it will open tommorrow.  Clearly marketing hasn’t seen the weather forecast.  Summit is not opening in hurricane force winds.  Hopefully that snow is still there and not blown to Vt by the storm.

Wasn't hurricane force winds in town today.  But it was 50 degrees and rained solidly about every half hour, with drizzle in between.

Damn, though, Z had a hell of a day.

Yep forecast was wrong about the winds

I had to work so it didn’t matter for me

I let my son sleep in instead of training.  He worked really hard on a paper for school due on thier last day so he deserved a day off.  It’s a long season for him so no issues skipping a day.

Based on the parking lot id guess just about all of Jersey is skiing at WF

Wednesday and Thursday mornings were good

I didn’t ski today though my son said it was not good and the lines were nuts.

I’m skiing Monday and Tuesday mornings.
