Who are the NY ski area experts?

I thought it might be useful to have a list of NY ski area experts handy. If you had a question about a ski area you might know where better to direct it. I think this could be very helpful for smaller or less known areas. For now I'm starting with lift-served areas, but would eventually like to expand it to all areas.

NOTE: This is not about giving away secret stashes or tree lines etc. I'm more interested in stats, history and old photographs etc.

If you know a forum member who is knowledge about a NY ski area, please suggest their screenname below and I'll add them. I'd love to get three per area. If you are that person, please suggest yourself.

I've been an instructor at Whiteface for 12 years and am there every weekend so I'd volunteer myself for this effort.  If i don't know the answer myself I'm well postioned to get answers.

What a shocker!  Didn't see that one coming.

Please don't go spraggin' about all the WF nooks and crannies.  If it ain't on the trail map, leave it be.  Otherwise I wish you luck as a WF internet ambassador.  But just remember:  It's always better in Vermont.  Always.  Lift lines sucked last weekend.  It was friggin' Wait Face.

This is not intended to be about stashes etc. Ultimately I want to create a resource about NY mountains. I'm very interested in this history of various mountains, old photos etc.

Find me one day this year where it was clearly better at WF vs say Stowe. Maybe a few on par

How about Mount Shut the F#@k up?

Skimoron:  Just in recent memory and off the top of my head, not this past Monday but the Monday before (1/30).  Suck on it.  Every day since has been on par or better.

If I read this thread right, Harv is looking for EXPERTS not A..Holes...If you like it better in Vermont then go ski there, this is a NYSkiblog.  If more people thought Vermont was sooo much better, we would have shorter lines here in NY.  I think I know Gore very well but am sure there are others that know more...Mike Pratt comes to mind
There's a high school race at Royal on Saturday...do I bring my skis or snowshoes?  I've never been there and would like some idea of what they have to offer.
Proud to call Gore My Home Mountain
Covid stole what would have been my longest season ever!

I'd originally envision that this thread would live on as a helpful sticky, but that may not work. I didn't think this would be a contentious thread.

I have two goals for this thread:

• I thought it would be cool for forum members to know who to address when looking for info on the less known/posted about mountains.

• I am working on a directory of NY Ski areas and would like to reach out to others to help.  The directory will include a current trail map, a section on mountain stats, and then a history of the mountain.

With regard to the history. I'm imagining a Wiki style, where people could contribute facts/knowledge that I could then add to the overall listing.

Wrong. Take a look at photo archive. They were skiing on 9 new on the 30th. Then subsequent mini powder days after that. Last fri/sat were powder days. You can ski in the glades. Not searching for blown in manmade on the side of a trail. It just is consistently better skiing over there year in, year out

skiing on all that ice have your panties in a bunch?

Harv:

It always gets contentious when anyone who skis in the Peoples Republic of Birkenstocks and Over-Rated Cheese read posts from Whiteface folk because they have a bug up their ass about WF.  Deep down, they know its bigger, steeper and better.  They know it's the only mountain in the East with an FIS sanctioned DH.  They know all of this and they may even know that those little green knolls they call "mountains" are getting smaller every year while the ADKs continue to grow.  So when someone mentions WF they get defensive and lash out.  It's not their fault; they're confronted with  their mediocrity every time they gaze West to the ADKs or East to the Whites.  So they've basically strung a chairlift or two on any height of land rising more than 500 feet and then, through the miracles of marketing, convinced the clueless hordes along the I-95 corridor that they're the epicenter of Eastern skiing.  Many of you from that area have discovered the Big Lie though and that doesn't sit well with either the perpetrators of said Lie or those who have been duped by it.  Pretty simple really.

Ever walk through downtown Burlington?  Bunch of dirty druids on single speeds nibbling on organic falafel and sipping chai lattes between puffs of hand-rolled clove cigarettes.
