There is a signal in sources of long range guidance and ensembles
for a potential storm either early next weekend or the end of next
weekend. With such a difference in timing and track of the potential
system, indicating slight chances to chances for snow from Friday
through Sunday and will have to zero in on the timing and regions
for the best chances as guidance comes together as we approach the
weekend. Lake effect snow over the western Adirondacks and/or
western Mohawk Valley may develop Saturday/Sunday with northwesterly
low-level flow and sufficient surface-to-h850 temp differences.
Location/timing of the snow will depend on the timing of the exiting
low pressure system.

Holly cow it gets cold, for the remainder of this week and most of next..
I'm going to Fla next week, will be lucky if it gets into the 50's

-22 both wed and thurs overnight here in the SW corner of the adk park.  How did other areas make out?   Looks worse into early next week.  

Here in North River (South Central Adk) we were -17 Weds night and maybe -10 last night.

Did someone hint at a storm for the upcoming week?

Wx people... is this coastal moving closer? There seems to be small amounts of snow in the forecast.

Looking at the NOAA forecast discussion.....it seems a northern stream trough feeding the coastal system may pull some moisture into the area, resulting in a couple inches of snow.  Don’t think that signals a change in track for the coastal low, unfortunately.

Latest runs bring a super storm closer to the New England coast

The storm is only 2 days away, I don't expect huge changes.  This is not a mountain storm, its a coastal scraper for southern new england.  Best chance for mountain snows would be the white mountains of NH into Maine.

What about Monday... some snow is listed as "likely" in the forecast... anything?

Or... when is our next chance?

Not saying that it will be a mountain event
But the models don't handle monster lows well

Should be interesting from a weather prospective
Rarely do we see 950 lows at this latitude

Harvey, next chance is Monday into Tuesday, nothing big but real snow is good snow.

Jason, looks historic for SNE.  Boston can get a foot, or two feet with winds approaching hurricane force.  Its a crazy looking storm with hints of a warm core (or warm seclusion) we will see a ton of convection over the water and probably an "eye" like feature.  The big story for everyone who doesn't get hit with the snow is the strong winds on the backside with stupid low wind chills to follow.  If we have any blocking (-NAO) this would be a blizzard up and down the east coast.

In EURO we trust? Hmm... I think this may end of being closer to reality than the NAM I posted this morning. With such a bitter cold weather regime, I find it tough to believe that a storm producing significant snowfall down into coastal South Carolina would come close to taking it close to the house here in ilsnow land. Glad this isn't MY forecast problem...
