No not a hunter. There are 2 does that show up around 4:00 ,a doe with 2 yearlings a little later, then a big doe by herself after that out back. This morning the doe and yearlings were in the front yard
Soooooooooooo, yesterday proved to be the BEST day ever at camp----we got a couple doe and then we got this MONSTER BUCK. This bad boy is the BIGGEST BUCK to ever come out of camp. We've had some big ones but nothing like this guy.
20" spread on the inside, little over 8" tines and a little over 28" beam----un-friggin real
Nice job Campy. Sometimes it's a team sport in regards to the whole Camp scoring. At least that's how I justify not getting an elk this season. As a group, we got 5 bulls. Me... nothing. I didn't get a deer tag. I was all in on elk. I spent 20 days in the woods. I hiked to places I have never been and saw some wonderful country but no meat. I think they were hiding. It snowed hard on the last day of the season so I had to work. The next morning there were elk walking down the roads. Next year!
On the other hand, skiing has begun. We have been skiing powder on rocks. 5 chairs and 19 trails that will eat the bases off your skis. The tram may open tomorrow. Then we will see ( or not ) where the real rocks are.
100% correct. When your at Camp whatever deer are taken all are involved. We drive deer, that's how we hunt and get as many deer as we do. We take turns pushing and watching. On this particular drive, none of the watchers saw the buck. Apparently he circled back around right into one very happy pusher.
Glad you had a good year and are now on to skiing. I have 3 weeks of deer hunting left then skiing starts for me too.
Yup, we can use rifles now (approved last year) but for the type of woods we hunt they really aren't worth a damn so we stick with slug guns. You need really wide open woods for rifles (like the dacks) cause the slightest little twig will knock the bullett off course. Slug gun will blow right thru and hit hard!!!
