I can't understand the people who are given time off, but don't know what to do with it and feel empty without going to their shitty "insurance adjuster"-type jobs for 60 hours a week.

Like, do these people know how to live a life? There'll be plenty of time for working when this is all over. Find some fun shit to do, you unimaginative dickheads.

For many years I've dreamed of having a month or so to get my life in order.  Well, here it is.  Double daily workouts, catching up on business related things, calling family/kids/friends.  Grandchildren escaping a virus hot spot (NJ) and coming up for a few weeks.  Buying pizza (take out) from our local pizza place to help him stay in business.  Can't wait for it to warm up so we can get the bikes on the road.  Rare opportunity IMHO.
Agree. I'll be making the most of my time as well.  This past summer we converted a bedroom into a new bathroom. Now I'll have the time to make the old bathroom into a pantry. I'll have time to get out and shed hunt, something I enjoy but rarely take the time to do. If we go until trout season that's just an added bonus.

Sure it is.

The universe has given you time off.

(Whether you'll suffer financial hardship from that gift is a separate question.... And one that a competent federal government would be able to mitigate... But we don't have a competent government right now)

I respectfully disagree. Nobody was given time off, it was mandated.

I just got out of a meeting with al my guys. I teared up telling them they were all laid off, I cried while handing them the letter they need to get unemployment.

I think it's diff if you work for a big corp, say NYS,there's no emotional connection there. When you work for a small biz you truly have loyalty to those you work with and your owner. I can not begin to tell you the emotion that my owner and I have shared through this time. Granted I've worked for him for over 20 years but I would lay down in the middle of the road for this man. He truly is a great human.

I don't mean to sound dark, rather let you know that not everyone is happy to have been "given" time off. Some of us truly enjoy what it is we do.

We close today at 1 then the beers come out

Same here

My boss was considering carrying all his employee's. I told him this is one big shit sandwich and we all need to take a bite. If he carried us all he would go broke. His responsibility, imo, is to ensure that we all have a place to come back to work.

Thanks WP

It does suck but it sucks for everyone. Misery loves company. That said the sun is out and I'm planning out all my upcoming chores, could be worse. I could be a Song/Lab skier

Hang in there camper.

I read today the 45% of Americans have 0 in the bank - nada, zip. Think what comes next. You have a gun, I don’t. Social unrest, marshal law may be just around the corner.

Thanks Warp. I'll be fine. Unfortunately I believe you are correct about some having Zippo in the bank.

I also think Marshall Law is a possibility. Right now I'm thankful that I bought a 1/4 of a beefer and have 2 deer in the freezer. Have plenty of charcoal for the grill too.

Camp and Jason:

I am so very sorry that your employment was impacted by this horrible situation. We can jostle and have fun on this forum, but this is a serious matter, and for that I wish you the best.
