dude someone did not give you a good tour....

It was kind of a weak tour. The guy had been out there for two months, but still didn't know anything about the mountain, what spots get filled in, what aspects are good at what time. I figured out more in two days than this guy figured out in 2 months.

Anyway, I didn't say I didn't enjoy myself. Just that Jackson Hole was way better and has a lot more exploration potential. Here's a pic of the typical Targhee:



It was great.

But it was no Jackson Hole

Long time since I skied JH/GT but when I was there I got hooked up w/ a rowdy crew and toured both places.  Skied terrain at both that def made me pay real close attention to detail!  

At some point I will get back there and will ski both.  JH is awesome and high octane but GT is sweet in its own way too.

I have to say wow you guys must all have had a really slow work day on Tuesday to rack up that many pages of tangent that quickly.  I was on a biz trip so I didn't check in.  Pretty funny stuff especially SJs divorce lawyer one that I laughed out loud on.  Sounds like Ptex got himself a princess in his loaded with start up money days.

When I say I want to retire in Driggs and ski Targhee I'm thinking that at 60 something Targhees terrain would be much more suitable than JH.  My cliff jumping days are about done and in another 10 + years when I retire they will be in the distant past.  Mostly I'm thinking I want to keep skiing and ice is tougher on my knees than powder.

Poor Zilligan, To bad you were out on the road schlepping, should have saved those stock options you must have had working for the fortune 5 before you moved down.

Yes, at 60 something, Targhee is probably the better choice. It's a great spot for high intermediate level pow runs, which will probably make up the majority of my skiing in my 60s. When I hit the Mega Millions on Friday, though...
