Not much talk about fall weather. Before we left for Florida 12 days ago, the fall weather in the north country was spectacular, almost hated to leave. Down here now it has been in the high 80s every day. Although we had to deal with TS Nestor Friday night and Saturday. Gulf is 81 degrees. Sitting outside now and it’s 80. Not hard to take.

On the bright side, no snow loss due to the rain today.

Sugarloaf summit shows a very minor dusting with rain at Bullwinkle's. The blue on that radar isn't really much in the way of snow in ME.

I just put my skis in the shop for some epoxy and a tune. They asked when I needed them. I told them two weeks. Forecast for this week looks pretty warm...

3 weeks ago in the wind storm the acorns hitting the sky lights and metal roof sounded like machine gun fire. Today I’m just napping listening to the rain with only a few acorns and hickory nuts coming down. It’s been a weird fall. So many acorns but not so many leaves yet.
Don't ski the trees, ski the spaces between the trees.

I’m going trail building and camping at 9k for the next four days. The low at that elevation tomorrow night is 3 degrees! Ouch. I wish fall would hang on a bit longer through November. Oh well. On the brighter side Snowbowl has fired up the guns.

That line looks nasty. Hope all is well. We had heavy rain and extremely high winds all night here in 12804. Lost power a few times. One good thing though, there is blue on the radar in western NY.

Just looked at the height gage for the Hudson River in North Creek. It went from 5 feet yesterday afternoon to 10.9 feet now. That’s almost 1 foot above flood stage.

Earlier...

At 11:56 Zelda and I got buzzed on our cells, Tornado Warning get to the basement.

What got my attention was the precise info I needed in CAPS:

"AT NIGHT YOU CANNOT REACT IN TIME. GO TO THE BASEMENT NOW.

We took the pets and our phones and went down.

I went to NWS and the Tornado Warning for our area was posted at 11:56, ending at 12:30 am.

We were near the western edge of the warning area, so I hoped we'd be ok.

At one point I heard a bunch of acorns hit the house.

Then, at 12:14, I refreshed NWS to find an update to the Tornado warning time stamped 12:07.  It spotted rotation directly above our town.

I was like WOAH!  I think we just got lucky.

Yea bring on the blue!

BRLKED posted some similar on FB, that is right near his house.

Shaman just called, our driveway is messed up, but our buildings are ok.

He said that the river was touching THE BOTTOM of the bridge. Holy cow.
