You got to chill out kid.  Mt Snow doesn't suck as much as Okemo but its not far behind.  Tons of CT gapers and now the Hunter crowd adding in - I'll take half of Gore over that $hit show any day.
I don't think the Hunter crowd will really affect it much.  My dad and I did not upgrade our passes this year, although we may next year.  Didn't notice any gapers when I was there in mid-December
Did you happen to use the rest room and look in the mirror?
if You French Fry when you should Pizza you are going to have a bad time

Yes, are you calling me a gaper or saying that I'm part of the Hunter crowd?  There were very low crowds the two days I skied there this year.

Sno,

I think people are really tired of hearing you complain about Gore Mountain's inadequacies.

Most of us click on the "Gore conditions" thread to read about the conditions at Gore rather than how much acreage Mount Snow has open, how poor the snowmaking is at Gore, and how poorly managed the mountain is.

I'm with Harvey.  Why don't you start a separate thread detailing everything wrong with Gore.  Place your complaints and suggestions there.  Who knows, someone may actually care to read it.

Thanks in advance,

+1

I try not to be as hard on sno as some others on here (he's still just a kid), but it'd be nice to click on this thread and see cool pictures and first hand reports instead of bitching and moaning by someone who has skied here a few times over the last couple of years.

You're an idiot.  I've been skiing for over 13 years on all types of terrain and conditions that exist in the east.  There are multiple mountains that I've skied every single trail at, and some more that I am close to achieving that, including Gore.  I primarily ski groomed trails because that's what's available most of the time at the mountains that I have regular access to.  I've been in glades and on bumps and would probably do it more if I had access to those types of terrain on a more regular basis.  Big news:  I want snowmaking upgrades because I actually want to have a decent ski experience in years like this, not be confined to a WROD all season.

The Rumor was f'n SWEET today.  They blew snow on it all last night too. Did about 9-10 on that until my legs wouldn't cooperate with my brain anymore. The rest of the mountain was kind of boilerplate. They started blowing on Uncas & Showcase at the end of the day.

1) you admit to having a pass and liking Hunter thus you are a Hunter skier now going to Mt Snow thus you are the definition of a Hunter skier - nothing wrong with that if that is your thing

2) based on what you said you skied at SB and what was over your head with as many days as you ski and all the bitching and moaning you do about needing perfect conditions I've come to the conclusion that there is a 90%+ likelihood you are in fact a gaper.

Yuk,

A lil' Birdie mentioned that you're unavailable at the present time via Cellphone, Twitter, what have you on your Mobile device.  How could such a thing happen?  Please share, what?, why?, or else I post this query, (third hand) to the Thread "Biggest Ski-Day Screw-ups" and let the stuff begin to hit the fan.

Love you Man.

P.S.  Rumor was Ab-Fab today, but not as awesome as 1st tracks yesterday.

Ski you on the Hill.

Yes, I am a Hunter passholder and a Hunter skier.  What I was saying is that you're not going to see the Hunter crowds coming to Mount Snow in droves.  The reason they're Hunter passholders is because that's what they decided to be the best option due to multiple factors.  If they thought that Mount Snow was the best option, they would have just gone there in the first place.

As for your second statement:  It was my first time ever out west, give me a break.  I did ski in the trees when I was there, but not as much as I would have liked.  I'm sure my next time out west I will be skiing trees much more.  I've never said that I need perfect conditions, in fact I rarely get them.  I just don't like to ski an icy death trap when there is a perfectly good run on the next trail over.

Back to conditions....

Finally got out this season (closed on a house Dec 22nd, been dealing with that)... did the last 2 days up there.  Mountain improved over night.  Still boilerplate in a lot of places.  However, they are blowing snow as hard as they can.  Actually had powder staying down in front of saddle.  Uncas under the guns had great coverage.  Topridge was a mess even after been mowed.  Didn't have the legs ready for Rumor but it looked great.  Lies was a mess and needs to be mowed badly.  Lifties tell me darkside chair passed inspection this week, they expected it to open Thursday but they need to get hardware over there first.   Should see that open next week.  Twister opened yesterday and was rather stellar.  Killer coverage over there but you'll have a racing camp all weekend.  No AE2 yesterday due to the guns blasting on showcase.

I have never seen Gore blow snow like this.  They have to be maxing out the system.

Yeah. I for sure got the "Jerry of the Day" award for dropping my cell phone on Rumor head wall and burying it in slough. I'll write it off as my sacrifice to the snow gods. It better work!

Zip your pockets people!!!

I would agree with the previous report. The ungroomed trails were not so good. Groomed oned excellent. Unfortunately only hawkeye and headwaters to be groomed tonight. The summit could be a challenge tomorrow.

Re: Gore Conditions

Gore was very good today!  I am returning to skiing after having both hips replaced so I didn't attempt Lies or Rumor.  The bottom of the mountain was pretty good with Showcase opening top to bottom with a nice layer of fresh man made.  They were blasting Wild Air and Uncas which were the picks of the day.  Twister was nice but will be closed this weekend for the race.  Top Ridge was boilerplate but they were firing up the guns as I left.  Chatiemac was nice powder bumps and Hawkeye was groomed flat.  Rumor looked pretty good but due to new hips, I didn't attempt it.  Props to the Gore snowmaking crew for recovering from the windstorm earlier this week.  The mountain skied much better than I expected, and now that my hips have been fixed, I am able to ski better than I have in years!  Despite the fact that storm is going to miss us, I expect a pretty good weekend.  The Dark Side may be cracking open tomorrow!  Mattman

Ed! I have no clue how to break this out.  It's harder than it looks.  Way easier for peeps to behave! OK maybe not.

Welcome back Mattman.  Good on ya.

It's actually quite simple.  Everyone should simply stop replying to him, he just wants an audience.  He will quickly get the point that type of behavior isn't welcome.  As someone said, he's just a child.
The hard part is the people who "chime-in" because they have some compulsion to prove that they are right and that the kid is wrong.

Gore was great today..on Rumor and Lies since that's all I skied. Hardpacked edgeable manmade. Some decent technical Lines on Lies. Some OK bumps starting to form on Lies as well. Rumor was great as well especially skiers left off the headwall. Neither trail groomed. I wish they would leave both Rumors and Lies like this all the time but only a matter of time before they get groomed out and/or more snow made to fill things in.

Cold start. Only way to summit Uncas - ungroomed mess for most of the public. Summit had groom on Hawkeye , very nice, Pit and Headwaters. Chati had patches that looked like a bottle, saw several folks SLAM. Fixedheeln wanted a challenge, got it on Lies egdeable and sweaty. Lower mt groomed and fast, bit scratchy underneath in spots.
