You guys are just jealous!

Thanks for posting the pics, Camp.
Let's hope people come out this year to make it a success. |
There is so much interest here locally regarding Greek's DH biking. Travis has been doing a bangin job getting this thing off the ground this year. I'll bet we'll see close to 200 people on May 28th for opening weekend. |
That would be great if mountain biking takes off, as I don't believe there are any other venues in CNY that offer lift-served mountain biking. I know from management that last year was a break-even for GP, and they certainly aren't in business to break even, so hopefully the efforts of Travis helps move things forward. Gone are the days where ski areas can operate on just a four month season.

That looks sweet! I'll definitely be going up there at least once this summer to check it out.
I'll take boilerplate ice over wet snow any day

Greek Peak Mountain Resort 6 hrs · FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Contact: Jessica Sloma, VP of Sales & Marketing Greek Peak Mountain Resort 2000 NYS Route 392, Cortland, NY 13045 JSloma@GreekPeakMtnResort.com 844.852.9312 / cell 315.720.6915 Greek Peak Mountain Resort Expands Cross Country and Downhill Mountain Biking Operation Resort Celebrates Opening Day on Saturday, May 28th (19 MAY 16) Last year, Greek Peak Mountain Resort launched a pilot downhill mountain bike division. It was a soft launch with three trails. The resort utilizes their Visions Express Quad Chairlift to bring guests and their bikes to the top of the trail and then bikers ride down the designated trail system. This season, Greek Peak added two additional downhill trails along with incorporating their existing cross country trail system. The new trails include one designated green or easy, and the other trail is designated as blue, being more difficult. Experienced riders will enjoy the adrenaline pumping black diamond trail, being most difficult. The newly built mini pump track was added this year, designed to increase skill levels of all ages and will be located at the base of the mountain. These new features greatly increase the value of the Bike Park’s daily ticket. This year, we have added rental, repair, and retail to our product line. Greek Peak Mountain Resort formed a partnership with Advance Cyclery in Syracuse. The Advance Cyclery Base Camp will be located at the base of the mountain, east of Visions Express Quad Chairlift. Advance Cyclery Base Camp hours will shadow trail hours, Saturdays 12pm-5pm. “We are pleased with the kick off to a long partnership with Advance Cyclery,” says Travis MacDowell of Greek Peak Mountain Resort. MacDowell goes on to say, “They have over 35 years’ experience and are passionate about the cycle community. John Galli, co-owner of Advance Cyclery, brings extensive downhill racing knowledge, as well as being a master bike technician.” Seasonal Opening Party for Greek Peak Bike Park will be May 28, 2016 from 12pm-5pm. Bike Park lift tickets are $25 per day. Scenic chair lift rides are also available for $10. Fast Trax BBQ will be open from 12pm-5pm offering grilled items and cold beverages. Post-ride Bike Park celebration will take place at Trax Pub & Grill 5pm – 11pm. I received the following email from GP today, which differs slightly from the advertisement on the GP website:
"Together, we bared the worst winter since 1965. We need your continued support. Buy a Greek Peak gift card and receive 10%in bonus bucks on the total amount purchased. It's a win, win! Here's your chance. The bigger the purchase - the bigger bonus! Thank you for your continued patronage in supporting Greek Peak Mountain Resort to grow and thrive as one of Central New York's gems." |
Bared?
FWIW, if they had discounted season passes for families, we'd still be skiing there. Oh, have I said that before? |
I'm with ya Billy. I'm very surprised they didn't bring the family passes more in line with the other local areas. I still think GP can ask for a premium due to having better terrain, but I think it could be brought a little closer than it is now. That said we're not looking at the pass sales so it must make sense as far as the numbers go or they would change it.

Camp - I agree mostly. I would pay a bit more for our family of 4 GP season passes than I would for passes we have at Song/Lab. But probably only a little - since Song/Lab is a combo and Greek is just one hill. I have no interest in Tog really. I've been there - once, when I got $10 passes from a TV promotion. I also agree it must not be hurting them or they'd change. Or possibly they have no way of knowing if it's hurting them. |

Hadn't thought about them not being able to tell if they're getting hurt by pass sales. I'd be surprised tho, wouldn't you?? I mean the bottom line is just that the bottom line. We made xxxxx is sales last year and xxxxx the year before.
Curious, did you find yourself skiing both Song and Lab equally last year??? I don't like to hate on any place but I really don't care for Song, to me it's so boring. That said it's been years since I last skied there, can't imagine much has changed. At least Lab has some character to it. I'm with you on Tog --- I saved my 20 bucks (or whatever it was) when buying my pass this year on that combo thingE. Shit man that's 5 pounders at the bar |

THAT WAS GREAT!!! |

Yeah, I too declined the $25 Tog option this year, as I didn't ski there once last year, and see no reason to pay $25 to ski a smaller area. |

We actually skied Song more Camp. But given the shitty year we had, neither ever fully opened and we didnt' ski a lot last year. So it's very hard for us to judge given we never saw either in total. I liked the variety of trails at Song - had some stuff besides the wide straight down the hill cut. Next year has to be better. We would have definitely hit GP a few times - at the very least for some night skiing and for a good spring tailgate day - if it had been a normal snow year. But we didn't ski Greek at all. And due to a family issue we ended up canelling our trip to Colorado! Our two best days of the year were at Okemo and Stowe. We had a free pass to Okemo - and I thought it was pretty decent. The kids and wife did too. Not sure why everyone hates on it so much. Did a Fri / Sat trip and it hit about 60 degrees both days...great spring skiing. |
