I imagine it was quite the headache from the perspective of both GP and the power company. Actual ownership of the property, easement/right-of-way, vegetation management, grooming, and insurance liability regarding incidents with the lines/poles probably made it easier to remove it as a trail.
So, in summation, yes, it was most definitely the effers at work!
The way the fall line is at the top it's kinda cool, in a funky way, to ski it. You need to start skiers right and work your way to skiers left. Once you cross the maintenance road it doesn't matter.
We're lucky to have this ski area here in CNY. It has some cool little headwalls to ski on. Problem is they're short, but still wicked fun when the snow is good.
I recall skiing Electra back in the day, but really don't remember what it skied like. Every time I return to chair 4 from 5 on Poseidon, I glance up Electra , which brings back memories of the good old days. If I recall from last season, it was pretty overgrown. Although the lack of snow didn't help.

It certainly is a gem. Nothing is more diverse or skis better than Greek from CNY south.
gp definitely rules for natural snow quality and funky terrain when she's on! When did they close Electra? It was well before my time as its been pretty grown in for a few years. When we had the big ice storms down here 5-6 years ago there was a huge trimming and clearing campaign in PA, I remember looking at that line and thinking it would be fun to ski if it got a trim!
