I can't say I disagree with you RJ. I too wish they would just include it in all pricing but it obviously must work or they'd change it.

And yes!! Dropping their mid-week lift tickets by 39% is a big move on their part, hopefully it spurs some new ticket sales but doesn't ruin my Tuesday AM lap session

I like our back and forths as well --- all good fun

Good one

However I'll be glad to answer your question. Generally speaking no, in NYS I feel we are some of the highest taxed people in the land. Specifically speaking of GP's resort tax it doesn't bother me in the least. I consider it a donation, and I hope they use it in anyway the seem fit to do so. It's also an optional tax. Poeple don't have to go and ski, eat, or drink there ----- don't like it?Ddon't ski at the best hill in CNY! Another way I look at it is that to me it's just like paying my NRA and Elks dues each year. I don't have to but I enjoy supporting them.

I wish they would just put it into the total price. It to me is just a kick in the teeth for some reason.
I think if they just said lift ticket is $40 ,as opposed to $35 then tack on $5 for resort tax is a bad way
To do it. Think it leaves a bad taste in your mouth I know it dose for me

From Ski NY's press release yesterday:

"Greek Peak Mountain Resort in Cortland, NY has added new trails and “Peak Plunge,” a 50’x50’ air bag jump. Skiers and riders can improve their freestyle skills or just jump for fun on Peak Plunge. The 6,000 square foot heated deck at the base of the mountain is ready to entertain skiers and riders with live music and events on most weekends. Learn more at GreekPeakMtnResort.com"

Does anyone know if GP really added new trails this summer? The Peak Plunge is old news???

I'm going to speculate that those new trails, are the downhill mountain biking trails. Perhaps with lots of natural snow they could possibly be skied on.

That would make sense, Big D., as I thought it was either a typo or another au-natural trail. It didn't appear as though any on-mountain improvements occurred this summer.

BTW, what on earth are you doing up at 3AM. Get some sleep!

WARNING - ALERT
On Sun. 12/11/16 is one of those $5. ski at Greek days. It will probably be mobbed, I will avoid it.
Can't imagine someone who doesn't know showing up early and buying a full priced lift tic at the window and then the shit show happens.

I'm sure it makes a heck of a lot of sense to schedule a $5 ski day so early in the season when there will likely be minimal snow and Terrain open. As I've said before, these discount days build loyalty to the ski company and not Greek Peak. Why on Earth must they hold these on a weekend?

I headed to Greek today to pick up our passes and get the home in order for ski season. I was pleasantly surprised by the newest addition to the ski area (located by chair 1 between the Iliad and Odyssey.)

If not, they're going to let some folks down, I think.  Last night they posted pictures of the snow guns, and said they were firing them up and making snow.  They also stated that they were hoping to be open Thanksgiving weekend.

They tentatively plan on opening November 25th. It looks like they are focusing efforts on the Alpha Slope and Elysian Fields. However, the forecast gets progressively less favorable, as the week ensues.

It looks like on their website that they have received 18"...they've got to do something with it though...it's not very user friendly.

This post was updated on .
18 inches is a nice start to the ski season. I just received an email that they will have 14 trails open on Friday. I would suggest rock skis.

Six pack of lift tickets for $264:

Re: Greek Peak Conditions

Well I've ski'd GP one more time this year than I did last season... The bio clock was on weekday time so I woke Mrs SnoBunski up at 5:30 and headed to Greek to start the season. Picked up our passes after the foggy ride up, got on the snow just before 10. By that time the trail count was down to 11 = 2 ways down. God bless the beginners on the skid mark that was karyitis.

Elysian had good  coverage up top, not so much the lower you got. The top was bumping up nicely, bottom becoming more tech until we bugged out around noon with cortland industrial IPA to wash down some wings and an escarole pie at trax . Was raining prett steady on the walk back to the car. No better gravy than skiing some smashed taters Thanksgiving weekend!
