I was there on Saturday. Fields was actually in decent shape still, but Stoic was fading fast. It was definitely better than not skiing at all. Now to sit back and wait a couple weeks.
$5 day and a WROD ---- what a hoot this will be. It's the last day of regular gun season but I'm planning on hitting Trax sometime in the afternoon. Can't miss the show.
No doubt it's going to be a show on the $5 day. I hope that with the temperatures finally looking like they're going to drop, they really commit to the snowmaking once they fire them up. I don't want to wait until mid-January to make it further than Visions and chair 2.
The temperature and humidity looks fairly marginal through Wednesday, but after that, they should be good to go. Hopefully last season didn't scare the owners too much. That statistic is that one in five seasons tend not to be prosperous.
My plan is usually to ski Killington until Christmas week, at which point, I take a look at what Greek looks like. More than not, I remain in Vermont until January. I prefer to come to Greek sooner than later to avoid the VT crowds.
As I've said before, Greek needs a major snow making overall. They have been working on it little by little, but a major cash infusion is necessary, given our erratic winters as of late. They just don't have the capacity--even after all of their upgrades and two insurance claims. I can't even imagine what conditions will be like on Sunday with only three days of snow making weather. It takes them a week to open a trail under ideal conditions.

TRUTH!!!
Too bad they don't punt HLL and Adventure Center and invest that $$$$ back into the hill.
The loading ramp/belt and loading gates were broken/non-operational on the Quad both days - Fri. and Sat. that Greek was open right after Thanksgiving. They shoveled snow onto the loading belt but those heavy chairs really whacked you as you loaded. No one was holding back the chairs... But when the attendants saw kids they hit the slow button.
Hopefully the loading belt and gates will be fixed soon.
The Adventure Center is so darn labor intense, as it takes so many people to operate it. Whenever I drive by, there are so few cars in the lot. Price points may also be an issue.
In terms of HLL, it could make some money if they hired individuals who could market it properly, but like everything at Greek, they don't want to invest in quality talent. I saw the payroll during the bankruptcy, and it is amazing that they can attract anyone at all for key positions.
That's too bad about the quad. Hopefully they either repaired it or brought Doppelmayr in to fix it. They can't have that inoperable--especially if they are not going to hold the chairs.
I went up and picked up my pass yesterday. They have a lot of work to do before Sunday. Other than the Fields, there is not much snow left.
Might not be a bad idea to load some cash on your pass this weekend. They will add 10% to whatever amount you put on it!
