Yeah, my guess is chair 5 will probably be opened tomorrow, but there's not enough people there today to justify opening it and running the shuttle.  Hopefully they will push out the snow they made on Upper Mars to provide a path to it.

Wish you could've experienced GP when everything is open.  There's so much good terrain out there sitting closed.

Chair 5 is opening tomorrow. They ran the groomer on Upper Mars to chair 5 and on Poseidon for the trip back so the shuttle shouldn't be needed.

This^^^^

The groomed trails were frozen cord and extremely rough. Everything ungroomed was nice and soft!

And closed!

@Brownski - It was nice meeting you and your son out there today! I'm sorry you guys drove so far to ski on less than "optimal" conditions. Hopefully you can try again when we have  more snow and more of the mountain is open.

No worries guys. We had a great time. I can see what you're talking about with terrain and the groomed snow softened up a lot in the afternoon. Me and Junior agreed that chair number two is the boss.

I skied GP Friday morning.  Everything groomed was firm and hard.  If you were able to find anything ungroomed, that was the place to be.
After a few runs on some of the groomed terrain, I figured that if I looked for the "closed" signs, the best snow on the mountain was just beyond them!  I was right.

The run of the day was definitely Olympian.  I lapped it at least 6 times.  Nice snow on skier's right on Elysian Fields as well.
Looks like they are getting ready to blow snow on Hercules for the next snowmaking window as they had their portable generator set up at the base.

I found this to be true as well

Is this how they normally do it? I saw that thing sitting out in middle of the trail.

They use the portable generator to power the fan guns in the areas where there isn't any electric power.  Nice job hiking up Atlas to find some untouched snow!  The thought crossed my mind when I looked up there, but decided against it.

I thought about it also , was seriously considering it, then my son noticed on the board that Lift 2 would start spinning at 3 so I waited

Wow what a difference a couple of days make! Greek has made an impressive  amount of snow the past couple of days along with 5 or 6 inches of natural added in for good measure!
Fields, Stoic, Christys, and Trojan were blowing  top to borttom and a bunch of miscellaneous ground and fan guns were going as well. They were setting up along Iliad and  the top of chair 4 to blow some more for the Mars Hill connector. Looks like full on winter ! Nice job Greek snow tribe!

Nice big parking lot over there, or you can ski over, whichever your heart desires. I'll be on my sled -- BRAP!
