I bought 1000 shares of GE today.  It’s break up value is well over what it’s trading for now.  The new CEO Larry Culp used to be head of my company’s former parent.  He is the rare exception of a ceo that is actually worth what they get paid.  He is going to turn it around.
Wish I had the balls to buy it when we were talking about it... perhaps if you were a bit more patient, this would have been a big winner for you!!

With rates low I believe the right stocks will still do well in this environment but now more than ever blindly buying index funds is a bad idea.  The bottom 3/4 of stocks in the index going to get hammered.

3 weeks ago I pulled a big chunk out of stocks to build out the plan my advisor developed. This guy is awesome.

No real reason to believe this at all. If there is consolidation in industries (as there has been in the past few years), the bottom companies will benefit and the top companies would take a bit of a hit (but remain strongly positioned to keep making money).

Maybe you should stop, Coach. You don't seem to ever be right in this thread.

You and I don’t ever agree with anything economics based.

Remember for every trade buy or sell some other guy thinks you are an idiot.

We are at different points in life so we should have different thinking about investments.  I’ve done incredibly well over the last 25 years with my portfolio.  You probably don’t even recall as an investor the last true bear market.  Do you have an MBA?

I stand pat with my thinking that index funds are for the sheep especially in this market.  Money has been plowing into these crap companies with poor earning in the bottom half of the indexes. Eventually fundamentals will catch up with this.  A lot of people believe this is how the programmed trades really make thier money by selling the crap companies to indexes every week when the 401k index 500 cash comes rolling in.

I’ll stop posting in this thread as it’s become like the poli crap thread.

Lol. This guy was funny. I don't miss him at all.

I think I might buy stocks all the way down on their next fall. Hard to imagine that these enormous multinational businesses (who employ more people & make more money than lots of countries) will go into a long period of low profits anytime soon (unless they are in a dying business like coal or VHS tape rentals)

Besides my retirement savings, I'll probably also pick up some dividend paying stocks, too. Now I just have to wait for a fall. My (complete guess) prediction is a 10% drop sometime in the October-December period.

Be specific- 10% from what point? From today, from Jan 1 2019? From when Trump took office?

I don't really own stocks unless they are given to me..
My current job I have a ton of shares for a pretty successful Corporation.
Right now they are worth $30k but they all don't get exercised at once..
My last job the stock just kind of flounders...  But I keep it because it was free..

My main investments are 401k and IRAs....

We keep 3 years of cash, this allows us to stay in higher yield funds and ride out any dips. The rest in various investments, mostly Fidelity and private broker account. This has worked well for years and allowed us to have very good growth. I use my income from my various businesses to fund renovation projects, ski vacations, philanthropy and toys. I don’t save much anymore as I don’t need to.

From the high it will reach sometime in July-September? (Why would you ask for specificity from a guess?)
