McCauley season pass holder here and I can't wait to get up there this weekend.  We skied last weekend and although the temps were a bit on the cold side, trail conditions were really good.  And it wasn't crowded at all.

Crazy Fridays are in play for McCauley today.  $12 for a lift ticket.

Wish I could have come up mid-week...looks awesome.

Powder everywhere...trees, mogul runs, everywhere.  Every run is a powder run.  McCauley got another 5 inches Sunday night and the conditions are fabulous.  The one tip I'll offer is to dress warm as it can get windy up top.

I really like McCauley, go there with the misses. I just wish it had another 500' of vertical.

After a disappointing trip to Gore last Sunday, it was a pleasant surprise to head back to McCauley and find conditions more like mid-winter than early spring.  No ice to be found and groomed trails were good and fast.  Glades are starting to show in some spots but still very ski-able.  Outside of Decamp being closed, the rest of the mountain is open and a great time skiing was had.

Unfortunately they lost almost all the snow from the storm last week. Hopefully they get some this week

Time to resurrect the McCauley Conditions thread, especially since the mountain is skiing so well.  My son and I went up  yesterday (Friday, Jan 6th, 2017) and conditions were powder and packed powder on all of the open runs and you just can't beat the $12 Crazy Friday lift ticket.  Skyride was my favorite run of the day with the glade trails a close second.

Conditions were ripe for snow guns and they were going strong on Playmate, Sidewinder, Racer and Skyride.  But don't let the guns deter you, they're all part of building up the mountain for the upcoming events.

Sorry I don't have any more pictures but my new GoPro (from Xmas) crapped out after 37 seconds of video .  This picture is from the overlook at the top of the mountain.

McCauley is going to get most favored nation status from me. SUCH a cool place.  Whatever the vert, not an ounce is wasted. Expert terrain (trees and bumps) everywhere. Helmers is the real deal too. The headwall is like that of Gore's Sagamore, at the bottom of the run, steep and bumped.

The place would be snoloco approved too, with lots of snowmaking per acre.  They have laid it down deep.

This made me laugh...

Was this your first time there? It's a little gem when the snow is deep.

5 inches of snow yesterday and what looks to be a good 6+ overnight.  I know where we're skiing today!

McCauley was amazing today. Ski report claimed they got 5 inches of new but it sure felt like they got more like 12. Our camp picked up 8 last night that is only 2 miles away and they got more snow in Old Forge.

Everything skied awesome. Barkeater was the pic of the day with no need to worry about hitting any rocks. Although you really didn't have to worry about that on any of the trails. Epic day in my book for sure.

Agree today was so much fun.

It was an insane drive over from Indian Lake, four wheel drifting all the way.  It was nuking when I arrived and snowed hard for much of the morning.

Patrol let me on early. I was on my second lap when I saw your first post Kleetus...

Eventually I caught up to Fred Mertz and Dave..

Fred

In places in the trees you were laying tracks in 15 - 20 inches of snow.

Around 1pm, Terry, the coolest patroller in Herkimer County, show us "Toby"... McCauley's equivalent of Mad's 19th hole. Laughing out loud, fun, low angle pillows all the way down.

WOAH! Love this place.

Echoing Harv and Kleetus, easily the best day of the year with powder everywhere!  Louie mentioned how nice it was too see all of the "Powder" smiles in the chalet.  Fun day and the weather forecast looks good for the next 10 days too.
