McCauley Conditions

Today was sweet!

Nice. Happy Birthday, Harv.

Got to McCauley around 1:30pm yesterday to moderate temps, no wind and a light but steady snow that lasted through the final chair at 4:10.  Unless you ski'd there recently, you'd never know about the rain from last week.  Powder in the trees and all trails open except Helmers.  I'd guess that they want to wait until the weekend to open up Helmers.

The top of the chute on Sidewinder was thin and showing some icy spots when I did my last run.  The rest I skied were great (Lost Trail, Dipper, Gods Land, Rambler glades, Skyride).  Here's a few more pics from yesterday...just to help your thinking...

Last time for me was a week ago Monday so no.  But we got a few inches yesterday and if we get a few more tonight, I'm going to try to be there tomorrow.  Weekend forecast looks good too.

I couldn't make it out yesterday but will definitely be there this weekend, just don't know which day yet.  I'll keep an eye out for a pole dragger

the wife has spoken

The cruel mistress is work and in this case a gymnastics meet (daughter). My wife is a sweetheart and super understanding of my obsession.  The timing of the new snow is also a factor.

Super Bowl is the best day to ski, bummed that I won't be on the hill Sunday.

And it was a good day!  It was dumping on McCauley from when I got there at 11am and was still dumping when I left around 3:30pm.  Sorry you couldn't make it but the snow's not going anywhere this week, especially with more headed this way on Wednesday and through the weekend.

FYI, if you're thinking of going this weekend, it will be busier than usual with Winter Carnival going on.

Fri - Sun Feb 9 - 11 McCauley Mountain Winter Carnival - Enjoy a parade down Main Street in Old Forge, followed by an ice skating party. The coronation of the King and Queen will be held at McCauley Mountain, followed by torchlight skiing, dare-devil jumpers & fireworks. After the fireworks, the community is invited to a dance in the chalet.

The Cardboard Sled Race on Sunday is one of our faves!

Cornhead and I skied McCauley on Sunday 2/4/18 and it was great. A good 8" plus of powder. Only have a couple of pics:

Bump!  McCauley was a blast yesterday with plenty of powder and more snow in the forecast for today

With another foot of snow last night, everything remains in play at McCauley.  Pretty much powder all over the mountain and in the trees.  

Mesonet station in Old Forge is showing they got about 6ish. That picture looks like way more than that.
